Ponta Mar Resort

We definitely had a room with an amazing view which made up for a lot of the not so great stuff. The bathroom drains smelled all the time, thd bed matress was the hardest thing I ever experienced and over the 4 days we had either no water or no electricity or as in the last 24hrs neither nor. Hotel staff was friendly, the massage at the spa was brilliant and location was great.

I just want to complement the woman at reception, what a helpful and patient lady!

Great large bezch and seafront location in prime position for town. Friendly service. Pleasant simple menu options and bar. Being improved with refurbed rooms and pool decking. Tranquil views. Good safe parking.

What a fantastic resort. It looks like it was recently renovated, and the resort is superbly located within walking distance of the shops.

A code of conduct on the website might be helpfull because another family, that stayed on top, came and sat right infront of our room, while playing musing on a boom box loud. We reported it to the guards, and they were reluctant to tell the people to stop. We also did not know that drinking alcohol on the beach was forbidden, but luckily a local advised us.

The cleaning staff were fantastic and extremely helpfull and friendly.

The kids play room is a fantastic idea. I see there is a basket ball hoop, and I think it will be a good addition to add it.

This was our first trip to Mozambique and it was a great holiday. Ponta Mar was located superbly with our room being the closest to the beach and making it easily accessible. The resort is undergoing a refurb at the moment and many of the rooms were therefore closed off.
This resulted in occasions of a lack of water in the room. The rooms are very basic with only a fridge and a kettle as well as tea/coffee station. A microwave would be useful for self-catering purposes. Next time we will make sure we take our own pots and pans so we don't have to rely on just braaing. The braai pit was small and shared between 4 rooms which is not ideal.
Inside the rooms there could have been a lot more attention to minor details such as additional hooks to hang towels from, a key to safe would have appreciated, especially since the bathroom window didn't lock.
The general location was superb with easy access to the beach, local shops and the market. The restaurant served up some delicious food but the service was slow.
Overall we enjoyed the holiday and we will be back but better prepared next time.
