The dinner and the breakfast were just amazing. We had the chance of being alone in the relaxing onsens. The lady at the reception the day of our departure spoke english and was very kind. The place is quiet and peaceful. The exposed motorbikes give a so original style to the hotel.
Just a detail but the futons were probably not the most comfortable.
From the moment you arrive you feel like a welcome guest. The hotel grounds are in a river culvert with views of hillside. Although there is a road nearby the surrounding area is so peaceful you would never know. The lobby is so well kept it feels like an art museum.
The rooms are traditional and beautiful. The condition is excellent. The futon are also very comfortable, for a westerner used to a bed, I barely noticed the difference and slept like a baby. There are beautiful river views from the rooms which have an external patio door.
The onsen is also excellent with an indoor and outdoor bath where you can enjoy the mountain air and sounds of the river.
I cannot say enough about the dinner and breakfast, it was delicious and looks even better in real life than in the photos. The waitstaff was kind and very helpful, I felt true hospitality.
The front desk reception is also available in English and they provide excellent written instructions for your stay at the hotel.
I would visit Japan again just to stay here a few more days!
Nothing, it was as close to perfect as possible.
