We had a wonderful stay at Es Hotel in Nosara.
The hotel has a calm, adults-only atmosphere with an incredible attention to detail throughout the guest experience. From the moment you arrive, the reception team make you feel genuinely welcome and nothing ever feels like too much trouble.
The food and beverage team are excellent. The menu is fresh and thoughtful, the cocktails are great, and the service is warm and relaxed.
The pool area is beautiful and peaceful, the yoga classes are fantastic, and the sauna and ice bath are brilliant additions that really elevate the wellness experience.
The location works perfectly and the shuttle down to the beach setup is seamless and very well organised.
The styling of the rooms and the overall design of the hotel is elegant and considered, which makes the whole place feel special.
The owners, Miri and Hima, were incredibly welcoming and made the hotel feel like a home away from home.
We cannot wait to come back. Highly recommended.

- le petit déjeuner qui n’est pas du tout au niveau d’un 5 étoiles (seulement 2 plats à choisir donc impossible d’avoir du salé + du sucré + des fruits ou un yaourt, jus d’orange non pressé sur place, et la cerise sur le gâteau : devoir payer pour un cappuccino ou tout autre boisson autre que thé ou café filtre …
- chambre avec beaucoup de sable au sol
- 2 antennes de part et d’autre de l’hôtel qui gâchent la vue quelque soit l’endroit où on se trouve autour de la piscine
- nous sommes passés complètement à côté de l’expérience ESH du fait d’une arrivée tardive, rien ne nous a été expliqué le lendemain concernant l’hôtel et l’expérience autour du feu.
- communication aléatoire de l’hôtel concernant les séances de yoga : nous nous sommes levés tôt pour une séance à 7h30 qui a été déplacée sans information préalable à 9h30 car un groupe de 25 personnes avaient réservé tout le cours…
Globalement nous trouvons cela beaucoup beaucoup trop cher pour ce que c’est …

La chambre épurée et la décoration.
Au niveau du confort . Les nuisances sonores ne sont pas appropriées à un 5 * . La grosse antenne gâche le paysage
On n’a pas pu dormir de la nuit à cause du vent et des courants d’air . Les portes claquaient sans cesse On n’a pas pu utiliser la piscine , ni le jacuzzi à cause du vent !… alors que tout devrait être étudié .. situé en haut d’une colline on se doute que la prise de vent doit être prise en compte . Aucun geste commercial ne nous a été accordé au moment du départ . Nous avons été très déçus
Nuestra experiencia en ESH Hotel fue excelente de principio a fin. Desde el momento del check-in, la sensación fue muy especial, sobre todo por la atención y el gesto tan cuidado que tuvieron con nosotros en ese momento, lo cual realmente marcó la diferencia y nos hizo sentir bienvenidos desde el primer instante.
El staff fue sumamente atento y especial durante toda la estadía, siempre pendientes de cada detalle.
La comida en Almar es deliciosa; al mediodía probamos unos rollos de sushi que estaban realmente muy buenos, frescos y bien preparados.
Y definitivamente, no hay nada mejor que disfrutar una Mezcalita Nicoya descansando frente a la piscina; fue realmente otro nivel.
Sin duda, un lugar al que esperamos volver y que recomendamos por su calidez, servicio y excelente experiencia en todos los sentidos.
Al momento de irnos, la pasamos realmente muy bien y nos dio mucha tristeza despedirnos y dejar un pueblo tan acogedor como Nosara, así como un lugar tan especial como ESH Hotel. Sin duda, una experiencia que se queda con nosotros y a la que esperamos volver pronto.

Not walking distance town but short drive
L’hôtel est très beau et récent. Identité très cool et personnel présent. Accueil parfait, On s’y sent bien directement.
Les seuls points négatifs sont au petit déjeuner qui est selon nous important dans un hôtel supérieur.
Les expresso/cappuccino et eau autre que l’eau du robinet ne sont pas compris au petit déjeuner, uniquement le café à l’eau est compris. Surprise à l’addition. le jus d’orange compris n’est pas pressé maison.
Ce serait bien également d’avoir une autre option dairy-free/gluten-free au petit déjeuner. (par exemple juste une option pain sans gluten, c’est facile à conserver en surgelé et ça fait toujours plaisir aux personnes qui n’en consomment pas)

Our stay at Esh was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beautifully curated and elegantly designed space. every detail felt so intentional, thoughtful, and serene. The food was absolutely amazing as well, easily a 10/10 every single day.
What truly set Esh apart, though, was the warmth and care of the staff and owners. They were not only welcoming and kind but genuinely went above and beyond to make our experience feel special and effortless. Morning yoga became a cherished ritual with Dominique and her dog Teddy.
We’re so deeply grateful to have discovered this hidden gem. It’s rare to find a place that leaves such a lasting impression, but Esh has set the bar impossibly high. I honestly don’t know how any future stay elsewhere could compare.

Everything is far too expensive (cocktails, nibbles in the room, spa...) and almost prohibitive.
Breakfast (included) is not to diners level. Orange juice in a 5 star hôtel with this price tag should be fresh!
Yoga class could be outside given costa rica s beauty, and this would provide more space for everybody
My stay at Esh Hotel was truly exceptional and exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, everyone, from the front desk team to housekeeping and the restaurant staff, paid close attention to every detail and genuinely cared about making sure we were comfortable and well taken care of.
One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the food at Almar. Absolutely incredible. I can honestly say it was one of the best octopus dishes I’ve ever had, memorable, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor.
Esh Hotel is a place that makes you feel cared for, relaxed, and inspired all at once. Without a doubt, I will be coming back.
Esh is a very special place. The rooms and overall aesthetic is stunning. The staff were lovely and very helpful. They, along with the setting and design of the rooms, really made the stay for us. If there was anything I'd flag it's that some of the outside areas could be finessed a little. Paint splashes on the windows, the parking area/road around it and over the edges of the pool, studio room where they're doing building on show, instead of shielded. Felt a little like anything they didn't expect you'd be looking at the builders just didn't bother. Thing is, when staying at a high end place, people do notice these details. However, these are minor considerations that could be easily fixed and are hopefully temporary and is me really nit picking, to elevate the hotel even more.
We had such a lovely calming stay here and would go back in a heartbeat. Very calm, tranquil setting. The early morning yoga class was a nice touch too. It's a little drive out of town and the beach, but that's exactly what we were after. Also a great distance from Ostional beach where we were able to go and watch a beauitful sunrise and see ridley's turtles hatching. Thanks for a great stay - especially to Oriana and Bryan.
Wish that bar was open later than 9, would have loved to come back for a drink after a trip or dinner off site
Staying here was a truly unique experience. The attention to detail in the design and service are beyond incredible. I would also like to give a special shoutout to the super friendly staff who were always willing to go above and beyond for me. The food at their restaurant was delicious I would recommend ordering the beef pinchos which are out of this world. I definitely recommend and can't wait to come back.
Esh Hotel has a lovely minimalist design, natural materials, and lots of greenery that create a peaceful atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We also appreciated the complimentary daytime shuttle and the relaxing yoga session.
Some areas still felt unfinished — the entrance was unclear, spa rooms were under construction, and building materials were visible. There were practical issues like water on the stairs, weak drainage, and non-working sockets after rain. Morning music at the restaurant started at 6 a.m. waking us up, although breakfast wasn’t served until 7:30. The menus were confusing, and some meal components were missing when served until we asked.
With more attention to detail and completion, this hotel could be truly special.
