A1 Weligama Hotel & Spa

There was an electrical fire which resulted in an outage, so we had to leave after only two nights with five nights already paid. The staff promised I would get the amount paid for the three nights back via transfer and to come back the next day. I did, everything was closed and stayed close until we left for the airport. The staff never again replied to any messages. The customer service for the hotel that I reached out to said they would take care of it and also stopped replying so I had to contact the booking.com customer service. Terrible service and incredibly dishonest. In addition to that there’s ants in the room and the floorboards are falling apart. Pool is dirty. Do not spend your money here.

I wish there was complementary tea/coffee for mornings, which would have been good!

Although the place was generally clean, and most of the devices in the room were functional, they could have done a better job with the external appearance. Beautiful large glass "windows" overlooking the ocean was quite dirty hampering the view. The blinds worked, but did not keep the lights out at night.

I booked this hotel for 5 nights, but the conditions were so bad that I had to check out after the third night. The room was in very poor shape: parts of the ceiling were taped together and falling down, the floor had visible cracks, the mattress was dirty and the Wi-Fi in my room didn’t work at all — despite me asking the staff several times to fix it.

Cleanliness was a serious concern. On my third night, I found a large (about 4 cm) cockroach coming from under the bed. It was truly distressing. Staff came to remove it and placed chemical substances all over the room, which made me feel even more uncomfortable.

In the morning, I informed the manager I would be checking out early. He acknowledged the poor state of the room and promised to refund the last two nights. However, for over a month, he kept coming up with excuses and stories about why the refund couldn’t be processed — and, of course, the money was never returned.

On top of all this, there was constant loud music from a neighboring café and the lobby downstairs. My room's wall was adjacent to the café and the noise made it nearly impossible to rest.

If you want to enjoy your vacation, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. It was one of the most unpleasant and stressful stays I’ve had.

I didn't like the fact that the walls and floor were made of wood. It's not bad, but there are cracks where lizards crawl in and we saw one in the morning. It was not very pleasant. The panoramic window was very dirty. There was also an unpleasant odor in the toilet. The price for this hotel is very high, we had much better options for this money.

everything was good but I wish the rooms felt more lux.

Loud music late at night from the bar next door prevented me from sleeping. Breakfast was not good, I would advise to go out and get breakfast. Lovely view, but blinds very thin and sunshines into room as soon as it comes up.

The WIFI connection is not good, not possible/difficult to watch streaming series.

The view from the room is great, but it's possible to see you in the room from the street. So sometimes you need to close windows with curtains.

Sometimes music played at night loudly from other buildings but then again it was new years.
