You get what you pay for -cheap.
Pros:

Clean.

Cons:

Hosts were unreachable when batteries were dead on front door lock.

Superb
Pros:

The ryokan was in very good shape and the check in process is incredibly simple. There isn't anything to complain about other than...

Cons:

There is only one shower, and its shared between all guests I believe. The stairway is also rather thin which makes moving luggage and bags a lot harder. But for this price and excellent location, it's hard to complain about any of these issues.
