The garden was lovely , rooms big and very clean.
The location was close to the Castle & a short cut down a side lane and you are at the Omicho Market .
Most of the staff have very limited English .
But this biggest issue I have with this particular hotel is their greed , & their rigid approach... I arrived at 10.00am and asked was it possible get into the room a little earlier because I had an bad asthma attack earlier that morning & was not feeling well they refused ....although they made the offer that they would let me into my room by 1.00Pm if I paid 4000 yen .
The result I had to sit in the lobby for for 3 & half hours not feeling well before I could go to my room and rest.
I have stayed in many hotels most will let you in earlier if your room is ready.
Especially if a person is unwell they make an effort to get a room...
The problem with this hotel is that they do not hire nearly enough cleaning staff they had 1 housemaid working on my floor with huge bags laundry strewn along the hallway... the management make a big thing of requesting to their guests not the get their rooms cleaned because of environmental reasons but its really just about greed and cutting costs , even though the hotel itself was quite nice the management and their policies are a turn off , I would not consider staying here again for this reason

Beautiful surrounds. Very well located to everything, across the road from the Omicho Fish Market. We walked everywhere to the Higashi District and the Nagamcahi Samurai District. Lovely room and amenities, very quiet. Make sure you enquire about or look up the timetable of the free shuttle service to/from the train station before arrival.
Perhaps the only thing was the beds were a little hard but that is only because I prefer softer beds.
The hotel was the perfect location for us as we traveled on the train, and wanted to visit Omicho Market, the castle and Kenroku-en, and the Higashi Chaya district, and the hotel was centrally located for all of it. Easy walks to everything we wanted to see. Hotel is beautiful, the staff is very helpful and friendly, the restaurant is very good for breakfast. The king sized bed was much larger than I expected, I had to use my passport to visit my wife on the other side.
The breakfast was a little pricey, but understandable when you experience the quality. Their sushi is excellent, as you'd expect, but the French toast was a little undercooked for my taste. This was consistent, so it's clearly how they want it to be cooked. The shuttle to the train station is very handy, but doesn't run as long as we needed on our arrival. Very minor issues overall, this place was really fantastic.
