Rise & Set Arugam bay

L’host è gentilissimo , perfino in piena notte si è messo a disposizione per risolvere un piccolo inconveniente con la luce e mi ha prestato il suo caricabatterie perché il mio era rotto.
La stanza e il bagno sogno grandi e hanno tutto ciò che serve.

The property itself is probably one of the most impressive places to stay in Arugam Bay. It is a private building with exceptionally high ceilings, four open sides that allow a constant, pleasant breeze, and a unique character in every room. The rooms are especially spacious, with beautiful views of the lagoon. Every afternoon, the sunset light comes into the room and creates an incredibly peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. I've stayed in quite a few different places around Arugam Bay, and I honestly haven't experienced anything quite like this.

The breakfasts were wonderful. Everything is prepared fresh from products bought every morning, and the food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared according to each guest's preferences. I also had dinner at the property every evening. For me, it was actually better value than eating out, while also being healthier, filling and absolutely delicious. It was a great way to enjoy fresh, local food without having to leave the property.

But what really made my stay special was the people. Everyone on the staff was incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful, and each person made me feel genuinely at home. They were always happy to help with anything I needed, and over my stay, I personally felt a connection with every one of them.

A special mention to Kamal, the manager, who helped with absolutely everything and always did so with patience and a great sense of humor. We also had some really deep and memorable conversations, and I discovered that he's a very good chess player! The whole team gave me a genuine feeling of warmth, hospitality and home.

I initially booked 2 nights at Rise & Set, but I felt so at ease here that I decided to extend my stay for another 2 nights.
The hostel is located just a scenic walk away from the main Arugam Bay centre. The 6-bed dormitory is clean and equipped with AC, and the breakfast is freshly prepared every morning (probably the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka so far!).
The vibe is incredibly welcoming, and the staff are extremely kind and friendly. Kamal has been especially caring throughout my stay. He helped me book a bus ticket to Colombo and even organised a nice yoga session to raise donations for a very meaningful project.

Fantastic large hotel. Huge rooms overlooking the lake or Arugam Bay. Air-conditioned and fans. Very clean rooms. Very helpful staff that can provide a lot of information. They have WiFi but I prefer to buy a 30 day mobitel unlimited sim in Potuvil for $6usd. It's a walk or a 300lkr tuk tuk into Arugam Bay or to Potuvil. I prefer a scooter hire for about $8usd per day. Fantastic to see Elephants, golden jackal, crocs and peacocks. Beautiful boulder beaches and monasteries. Arugam Bay area is a great area to explore and the hotel manager Kamal is great. They can help arrange travel and safaris into the excellent Kumana Park. Highly recommend this hotel for a very affordable stay. It has great views while being an economic alternative.

Had a wonderful stay at Rise and Set Hotel in Arugam Bay! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Kamalesh, who went above and beyond to cater to all our needs.

We arrived very early in the morning after taking a night bus to Arugam Bay, and the team kindly helped us with an early check-in, which we really appreciated.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, the price was definitely worth it, and the location is one of the best in Arugam Bay, very convenient and close to everything.

Highly recommended for anyone visiting Arugam Bay! Would definitely stay here again.

location was amazing i could see the sunrise and the sunset also the view of the lagoon and the elephants in the morning specially the yoga sessions with Bodhi ere amazing

The hotel has a beautiful minimalistic style decor and atmosphere, the rooms were spacious, the staff were very helpful with information about the hotel as well as the arugambay area. The hotel has a beautiful rooftop where you can watch the sunrise as well as sunset!

It was English breakfast served with bread, margarine and jam together with an omelette. Parking is available and the room was spacious & quiet. Room facilities are satisfiable. The manager (Mr Kamal) conducts yoga classes and is informative on spiritual teachings.

Nice big rooms with good views, good breakfast, and supper support from staff.
