The owners were really nice and welcoming and they have a cute, friendly dog. The hotel is also close to the beach, it seems like the beach is better suited for surfing than for swimming.
You can hear the trains passing very loudly starting around 5 or 6 in the morning. It’s quite noticeable, and even earplugs don’t fully block out the noise
Fantastic breakfast and wonderful dog Sara. The AC in the room was great. Nice to be just outside of the main tourist road. 2min walk to beach and you can walk along the beach in 20 minutes to the surf schools. 20 mins walk into town or plenty of tuk tuks and buses along the main road

De gastheer was erg aardig en sprak goed Engels.
Het zwembad en het ontbijt waren goed.
Toen wij deze accommodatie boekte hadden ze een beoordeling van 9.5, dat is het zeker weten niet waard! Toen wij aankwamen was de beoordeling al gezakt naar 8.5, wat ons niet verbaasde. Wij hebben uiteindelijk besloten om na de eerste nacht een ander hotel te zoeken. De eigenaresse had deze review kunnen voorkomen door over restitutie te beginnen, al was het 50%. Ten opzichte van andere accomodaties, beter gelegen, betaal je hier een fors bedrag van maar liefst € 76 per nacht (familie kamer).
Onderstaand lees je onze bevindingen.
Wij verbleven in de familiekamer met stapelbed. Een aantal negatieve punten van de kamer:
- matras van het tweepersoons bed is hard en aan vervanging toe
- naast het tweepersoons bed is een raam, zonder gordijn. Zodra het licht wordt ben je wakker
- de hygiëne is door heel Sri Lanka anders dan Nederland, echter toen ik een handdoek over de rand van het stapelbed hing zat die vol met stof. Ook overal stof en vuil onder de bedden waar je redelijk eenvoudig met een stofzuiger onder kunt.
- de airco lijkt nieuw maar normaal als ik een airco op 19 graden zet is het echt te koud voor iedereen. Nu hadden we het allemaal warm.
- het douche systeem was net vervangen met een warmte unit. Warm water was prima maar de druk van het systeem daar kan een dame haar haren niet mee uitspoelen…
Locatie: we hadden helaas te laat gelezen dat de trein naast het huis overlast kan veroorzaken. Maar bereid je hierop voor want die trein rijdt tot laat en begint vroeg en toetert je je bed uit. Als je met je gezin nachtrust wenst te hebben dan moet je deze accommodatie niet boeken.
Verder is de locatie wat verder weg van de surfspot. Mocht je wensen te surfen, dan dien je altijd een taxi te nemen. Of 20+ minuten wandelen.
Overige punten: zoals je leest in de reviews hebben ze een hond. Als je aankomt zit die netjes in zijn hok en daarna loopt hij los rond. Niet iedereen is hiervan gediend, vraag het op zijn minst.
It’s a very nice vila owned by very nice couple and their dog Sara. We were well received and assisted with all our needs. Breakfast is good, the pool is amazing.
The house it located right next to the train rails and you might be woken up by the train passing; however they informed us from the beginning and we preferred that than the noise of the busy main road.
We had a really good stay in Weligama. The Hosts are just awesome. The accomodation is located in a bit calmer area. Room and Pool were always clean. Food Was really good. The Host arranged us Trips and drivers always within a few minutes. Of course Sara, The dog, was our Highlight. Villa 26 Was truly one of our best accomodations on our sri lanka Travel.
They had a very nice and friendly golden retriever dog called Sarah. It is located a 2 minute walk away from the beach which is great! They have a small sized swimming pool with ambient lights and lot of different floats.
The rooms were much smaller than what appeared in the pictures, the ground floor family room had very poor ventilation. There is a railway track right next to the house, which is ok once you get used to it. The breakfast was average. The hosts were a bit moody at times. The entire lower floor had the smell of cigarette smoke.
Being bluntly honest the accommodation was ok, we had to request the bedding to be changed however and my wife bought water at the bar and then upset the female owner by attempting to put the was water back in the fridge at the bar although we had been instructed to do this by her husband the evening before. It was unsettling for my wife and we decided to leave 2 days early.
Villa 26 is super nice place, the owners are really friendly and helpful, super delicious breakfast with fruits and fresh squeezed juice ! And the whole cuisine made by them was delicious !
They have super cute dog named Sarah. Super good and fast WIFi!
The train track is nearby and was a bit noisy.
Staff, room and the food
The place is amazing, it's a villa converted to guest house, but it has amazing facilities for all you convinience. The rooms were the best from all guesthouses we visited. Kids loved the pool, we loved to stay by the bar having a drink and chat. We had dinner 2 times at the restaurant and food was always good. The hosts were super nice to us and the kids. This place is really good to stay away from the mess in the central beach and bars. A real retreat and best for people chilling that want to read a book, for families - absolutely great place.
Nothing to comment. Everything was better then expected.
