The spa area and staff were friendly
The food was not tasty at all very blunt and expensive for nothing waste of 38 pounds for steak and burger costing 24 pounds
All dishes from bar and restaurant were the same not tasty at all
Breakfast was okay though
Great for visiting both Bicester and Oxford
Comfortable bed and quiet at night.
As a few have said the bedrooms and corridors need refurbishing. Although it was hoovered, the bedroom carpet carried some tales of a lifetime of visitors.
The staff did its best, and consisted largely of younger people who I imagine are studying nearby. That’s fine - they were lovely, but we saw little in the way of effective leadership across the board.
Just simple things like knowing which table your guests are sitting at if they are having lunch outside would have stopped the three serving staff having to repeatedly ask people on the terrace if they had ordered food and was what they were holding, it.
Lastly, we were there for two nights attending a show, and the normal brasserie breakfast space was being used for exhibitors so the first breakfast was in the restaurant. It was a buffet and very makeshift with tables of food right by the entrance so there was a fair bit of congestion. What with the toast station next to the slowest coffee machine in the world, you had to time your run perfectly to avoid standing in a queue or being disappointed when the coffee machine ran out of water or milk or needed the drip tray emptying. Breakfast in the usual place the next day was much better.
We paid over £250 per night for our room, off season, and so I would say the hotel is overpriced.
Breakfast and breakfast staff were the only highlight , although the coffee machine was broken
Poor check in experience
Incorrect directions to room
No restaurant open on a Tuesday night
Bar food expensive and poor quality
Common areas tired and unclean
Room was a step back in time and not clean
Fittings and fixtures were in bad condition
Both ways of getting from reception to the room was routed outside in the cold
Cold welcome
Warm bottled beer in the bar
Congested check in as spa and gym members were clogging it up for hotel guests
This is my first time visiting this place and my first time alone. I was extremely charmed. Everyone was very attentive and kind, the girls at the reception, the bar staff, the man who gave me the massage... The room was very clean. In the morning at breakfast the staff was kind. I would visit this hotel again, a wonderful place to relax and rest. I recommend it!
Good location
No water in the room. Could not have a shower, brush teeth, flush toilet, wash face etc. Had already been driving for four hours so all I wanted was a shower and an early night.
Spoke to reception several times and they just kept telling me it would be fixed shortly. I went to bed at 10.15pm and there was still no hot water.
When I checked out there was no reference to the issue, there was no apology and when I asked if they would be compensating their guests, I was then told that I would have to email in. I had a four hour drive ahead of me so this is not something which I wanted to do at the end of another long drive.
The room was also freezing and the air condition unit didn't work properly so I ended up using a hairdryer for 10mins to heat the room.
I travel regularly for work and I appreciate issues happen, however the hotel were not equipped to deal with this at all. Communication to guests was poor, no bottled water was handed out and they wanted to put their guests out further by asking for them to email in to voice their concerns (they are obviously hoping that people will forget / or cant be bothered).
Also just to mention that there were electrical boxes and wires around the hotel corridors which looked an eye sore and posed a H&S risk.
All in all such a shame as the hotel is in a perfect location, however I wont be staying again.
Reception and maintenance staff were excellent, especially Dean.
Spa was great, room was fantastic.
Food wasn't great, very generic, not a little of choice and not well cooked. Issues with the coffee machines both at breakfast and in the room.
Spa facilities and treatment. Bed is very comfy.
The rooms/beds were lovely, spa was great and staff were very nice
The restaurant/food options lacked vegan and allergy suitable options, I’d expect better in 2026 and for the quality of hotel
Spa
Bed
Very nice location, clean and spacious rooms. Good facilities.
The facilities were good but dated and needed a clean. The staff on the front desk were a little unhelpful u fortunately.
The facilities are fantastic, the pool, spa and golf range etc. Staff were lovely on reception and the massage was lovely in the spa.
The room was very dated. The rail kept falling down in the wardrobe. The sports bar food was poor.
