Excellent breakfast. Lovely town. Lovely room.
Everyone is friendly and helpful. The kindness and thoughtfulness of staff goes way beyond the norm.
The spa offers various options to enjoy - recommend having a treatment (mine was amazing), though the massage chairs are the best I've ever used.
Wonderful comfy bed and the best pillows
Delicious breakfast with excellent choice
Go to breakfast with plenty of time as service can be slow - though they will respond well if you explain you have a deadline.
Pretty building and pleasant staff.
Really poor breakfast. So bad in fact that I had to go elsewhere to buy breakfast. Shame as this really let the stay down.
Good location. Comfy beds & good facilities. Breakfast good. Spa is small but nice & my massage was fab but needs a little attention to the smaller details (no loo roll in toilet) wet sofa.
Was very noisy, partly due to traffic plus the aircon/heating unit was really noisy all night. Decor is a bit odd & the massive tv in room is very unnecessary. You can’t even see it properly as the end of bed is in the way. Could be great with some tweaks .
The building itself is beautiful and well set out.
Few odd design choices - the furniture in our room was huge (especially the tv which you couldn’t see all of once you were laid down, despite its astronomical size) and the bar area felt slightly disjointed
Spa
Fake flowers everything too pricey.
The bed was comfortable and luckily, the bedding was warm and appeared clean.
The food at the Vineyard and at the hotel was nice, though pricey.
Room shabby and tired with cracked panelling, ceiling, flaking paint etc. Facing a busy market town centre, very noisy from the road & carpark. No ear plugs supplied. Old building with original sash windows so noise and cold came in as if windows were open. Woken from around 6:30am on boxing day by classic car meet right outside, revving engines and crowds, no pre-warning of this from staff.
The room could do with a deep clean as far as the soft furnishings are concerned, very dirty sofa in the bedroom with dog paw prints in the back rest and stains everywhere else over the seat, I had to spread a hand towel over it to seat with my clean clothes. Stool in front of dressing table is dirty with visible butt crack stain as well as other stains on the fabric, so did not use.
Stained rug around bed. Clump of hair matted in the first bath towel I picked up to put in shower and towels looking old with frayed edges. Clump of hair behind sofa bed in side sitting room.
Very little information given by staff on arrival, was not told that the heating was through aircon unit nor that there was such a unit hidden behind a false wall at the head of the bed now where the remote for it was resulting in being very cold my entire stay. Told about the aircon unit in bedroom, Christmas evening when sitting downstairs with other guest and all of us mentioning cold rooms. Was told remote was in ‘hidden drawer’ in dressing table. Why none of this mentioned on arrival? Spent my entire stay thinking the only source of ‘heat’ was the bathroom towel rail.
The place is visibly understaffed with staff dividing themselves between the Vineyard and the hotel, the latter not being the priority. Supposedly on call via a button but I rang this 5 times when I found the hair in the towel, and no one came so I went downstairs. Was not shown around the spa and when I asked to see it on Christmas day, I was taken outside and pointed towards where it was. Have more to say but out of space sadly.
Feels like home away from home
Great spa facilities with seclusion and privacy
A bit tight when 10 or so people were around in the spa area
Good location. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed.
Airconditioning cum heating system was unreliable. Were woken up at 3am by it coming on quite noisily.
Spa was also a little underwhelming and onsite restaurant no longer existed.
The area it is, centre in Wickham. Staff were superb.
The drink system is very odd!
Lovely quiet location.
Staff are fantastic. Great hosts. Made sure we had everything we needed.
Took us up to our room.
Squeaky bed
Helpful friendly staff with staff call buttons everywhere
