Not at all unpleasant but could have been improved with some refinements.
Pros:

Good sized room with adequate shower and en-suite. Easy access to the coastal path.
Self-serve breakfast was good and staff very helpful. Easy parking right outside.

Cons:

Room smelt musty when we arrived and walls were paper thin and we were disturbed by the people in the adjacent room. Towels were of poor quality.
Sea view was more a view over the local bowling club.

It was a disaster! Cold and damp.We were unable to stay.
Cons:

The building was cold and felt damp. The bedding felt damp. The building was unwelcome.
It felt like a hostal. There were no staff. The building was dismal. There was nowhere nearby to eat.
We were unable to stay overnight as planned. We booked into a nearby Premier Inn. The information on line is misleading.

Be ok in the summer. Not a winter location
Pros:

In a beautiful location and stunning views

Cons:

Cold damp and not a pub anymore.
Tiny heater in Room had to move book cases to get the tv to work.
Paper thin mattress. And breakfast was poor with very limited items.

Nice stay, friendly owner.
Pros:

Basic accommodation and a little unusual compared to the norm but it served its purpose. This used to be a pub and there are items dotted about from those days. Used it as a stop prior to HW walk the next day.

Cons:

Bed was a little soft.

Great stay
Pros:

I had a warm welcome from Chris who cooked me an excellent evening meal of pasta. The hotel was clean, comfortable and had heating in the room (something many of the places I have stayed recently did not have). Great location for Hadrian's Wall Path. Shower was 1st class and the bed comfortable. Unfussy, practical and value for money.

Cons:

Nothing ... it was great
