An amazing hotel with beautiful gardens
Pros:

The staff were amazing (with the exception of Mr Monde at reception who was not very welcoming). The spa, restaurant, cleaners, and repair men were all friendly, professional, helpful and took initiative to resolve any issues. The room was clean and functional. The breakfasts were great with a stunning view. The spa treatment room had a beautiful view. The gardens are stunning.

Cons:

Just a few suggestions:
1) to install security safes that are large enough for a laptop
2) To change the clothes cupboard to an open style with a rack and shelves in line with international trends (not musty)

An excellent stay
Pros:

We were treated royal by the amazing staff from start to finish. The effort they went to for my wife’s birthday was amazing decorating the bed and dinner and breakfast tables. It was really special. The spa treatment was amazing as well. I can’t fault anything

Cons:

The rooms are a bit cramped for a 5 star establishment but they are converted stables so difficult to change that

Pros:

Nice room with all the comfort needed for an overnight stay to see the beautiful gardens. Very close to the highway for easy access. We had a decent evening meal in the casual dining restaurant.

Cons:

The hot breakfast we ordered took an inordinate time to arrive . The dinner service was much better. The traditional pancakes my husband ordered were a big disappointment when they finally arrived as they were scotch pancakes, aka flapjacks in South Africa. My English breakfast was good, though the plate was somewhat oily.

A worthwhile, stay, for the gardens alone, in a beautiful environment with great service.
Pros:

The gardens are beyond beautiful even at the end of the season. Lovely walking with much to admire. The staff were incredibly helpful and the hotel, itself, very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast, which was included, was delightful. Great service at all meals.

Cons:

The room we had was clean, open and comfortable, lovely bed, but required a chair and some of the paintwork needs attention. We had invited friends, who travelled nearly 40 ks, for a buffet lunch which we found slightly disappointing and expensive, although the service was excellent.

Very good in some areas and questionable in others.
Pros:

Breakfast was lovely and gardens make for a great walk

I can’t remember the restaurant in the basement area but that was amazing!

The spa facilities also looks great but we didn’t get a chance to go.

Cons:

Rooms were very underwhelming in general even more for disappointing a 5 star - it’s giving Road Lodge at best 4-5/10 here.😂 From the overall cleanliness (ceilings are dirty, sink stains) to maintenance (rusting & flimsy door handle, some light bulbs in bathroom needed replacement) and room facilities (e.g no air-con).

Our shower didn’t have hot water in the evening and morning so we were eventually moved (after speaking to the 3rd staff member as others were dismissive of the situation) and both rooms have a similar depleting structure.
