Ha Giang isn't recommended for highly sensitive people.
Pros:

Nice place, newly renovated, close to beautiful nature. Good food.
Most of the locals are friendly and welcoming.

Cons:

Ha Giang has a dark side.
I was there to walk and explore, not to do the touristic loop (which is frowned upon).
I found there is a lot of black magic in the mountains (small villages) and some of them really don't want outsiders there.
I had to deal with some bad experiences because of this.

If you are a westerner who is just there to do the loop, I'm sure you'll have a great time.
But, if you want authenticity, peace and to explore on your own, try Sa Pa instead (Ta Van village).

Pros:

It is quite remote place, bit far from city center and all restaurants, but in very charming wooden rural house. I think is perfect for traveling with bigger groups of friends with whom you can enjoy evening in garden.

Cons:

It was very hot in may and wooden walls were heating up fast.

Pros:

I can't say too much - I stayed here as I was beginning a Ha Giang / Cao Bang motorcycle trip in the morning, and I arrived at 2am. The place looked really nice from what I saw, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was simple pancakes with syrup.

Great place to stay, with even better staff who are friendly and tries to make sure your visit will be smooth and packed
Pros:

Pretty grounds with wonderful mountain views.

Cons:

Requires some extra effort to reach from the city, but being away from the urban hustle is worth it!

Everything you need
Pros:

Rolled in wet and cold...the hottest shower Ive ever had was there waiting for me...Bike friendly gated courtyard. Bed was super comfy and even heated so was not chilly at all. Food was great and beer was cold....this place is fully self contained if you just wanna have a rinse, beer, meal and then relax after a long day of riding

Great ,cozy place to start and finish Ha Giang loop
Pros:

Great place ,great people and lovely food, i couldn't ask for more. Phuong was very helpfull, she organise motorcycles for us, transfers and give us lots of information about loop. I really recommend this.

We had a great stay! :)
Pros:

It was amazing. The host was so polite and helpful so that we could even check in at 3am in the Morning because the bus to ha chiang was coming late. The next day she organized a motorcycle for us and we had a good breakfast. It was a lovely Place to stay.

What a gem this place is
Pros:

What a beautiful place, and what a privilege to have spent four days here whilst my brothers were doing "the loop".

The stone house and its garden have been designed and built with a stunning attention to detail. The surrounding mountains are, of course, gorgeous, and there is a peace throughout the whole property.

The breakfast was excellent (delicious and generous), the host was incredibly kind, going above and beyond to make me comfortable, the bedrooms were comfy, clean and, again, beautifully designed, and there were six individual fully equipped bathrooms.

Would highly recommend this as a base from which to do the loop, or to relax and decompress for any number of days.

Pros:

One if the most comfortable and beautiful homestays I've stayed in vietnam! The place is brand new and all the facilities are modern and stylish. Staff are incredibly kind, we went out to dinner and swimming and the breakfast is amazing! Couldn't reccomend more!

Cons:

Not a single fault! Maybe the food was too tasty I didn't want to stop eating!

Pros:

Lovely place to start and end your Ha Giang loop. The place looks great, the rooms are very pretty, and the owners couldn't be more helpful and friendly. I did not rent my motorbike from them but they were super helpful and shared a lot of advice about the loop and helped me fix something on the bike when I needed it. Definitely recommend. I also stayed at their Dong Van property and also strongly recommend that one. Bonus: you also get some cute dogs running around
