Would definitely recommend especially if WiFi issue is addressed
Pros:

The location is just perfect, amazing sea views, you can watch surfers, sunset, great cafes nearby.
The property itself is good, rooms are clean and comfortable.
The staff were all very polite and helpful. The two labradors were darlings as well!

Cons:

The wifi doesn’t work at all, not even when in range. Nothing was done even when we informed about it. This was a challenge also because there was no good mobile internet range in the room itself, we had to step out every time to use internet.
The property could also benefit from some general upkeep, some furnishings are a bit worn out

This place is a family home stay. It’s in a fantastic location with the beach literally at your doorstep. Surf breaks out the front, local shops and cafes out the other side. But what makes this place 5 stars are the people. A family run business that truly goes out of their way to make your stay the best it can be. The food was incredible, tasty and great value. It’s a place for families, couples and surfers.

Cons:

Nothing. If we had to mention something, the family villa we stayed in was is a little on the older side, but it was clean and comfortable and very spacious. Any issues were solved quickly. We had our own private beach space. There was nothing not to like.

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to make sure guests are comfortable. A special mention must go to Nuwan, the manager – he’s not just professional but also one of the most honest and kind-hearted people we’ve met in Sri Lanka. He personally made sure every detail of our stay was perfect and even helped us plan safe and memorable trips around the area.

The rooms are luxurious and spotless, with breathtaking ocean views that make every morning special. You can truly feel the love and care the family puts into maintaining this place. The food was delicious, freshly prepared with a local touch, and every meal felt like a home-cooked treat.

Unfortunately, there are a few tuk-tuk drivers like Lalith and Deepthi nearby who try to mislead tourists, but they have absolutely no connection to the hotel. There’s even a puppy world at the property, which adds a lovely, heartwarming touch – you’ll fall in love with the little dogs instantly!

The location is stunning, tucked away in beautiful Ahangama, with quiet surroundings and the soothing sound of waves in the background. The rooms are spotless, spacious, and modern, yet still have that cozy, homely feeling. Waking up every morning to the ocean view through the big windows was honestly magical.

What truly makes this place unforgettable, though, is the people. The hotel is run by the most caring family I’ve ever met during my travels. They go far beyond the usual level of service — it’s like staying with friends who truly care about your happiness and safety.

Nuwan, the manager, is the soul of the place. He’s extremely kind, honest, and always ready to help. He personally made sure we were safe, comfortable, and had everything we needed. He even helped us plan day trips, find good places to eat, and organize transportation — all at fair, local prices. It’s rare to meet someone so genuine in the tourism industry these days.

Speaking of safety, I can honestly say that Manta Ray Manor Haven is one of the safest hotels in Ahangama. The owners are very open about keeping their guests protected from dishonest locals. Unfortunately, there are a couple of tuk-tuk drivers nearby (Lalith and Deepthi) who try to trick tourists, but they are not connected to the hotel at all. The hotel provides trusted and secure vehicles, so you never have to worry about being overcharged or misled.

The food was delicious — homemade-style meals cooked fresh with love. Everything tasted so real and comforting. The restaurant has such a relaxed vibe; we spent hours just enjoying our food while watching the waves.

And then there’s the puppy world! It’s such a sweet part of the hotel.

Location is good, that's the only good thing about this place.

Cons:

Bungalow rooms are extremely outdated, and not as in the pictures. I checked in very late - the staff was drunk after someone's birthday party and there was a lady vomiting loudly into a bucket right next to the reception counter when I was checking in, she might even have been part of the staff. The bathroom was dirty and sandy, door was broken and would not open at first. The tap almost came off when using it. They forgot to put toilet paper in my room, had to ask for it.

Cons:

Uns wurde bei der Ankunft gesagt das wir zwar für 3 Tage gebucht haben, jedoch sie einen Fehler hatten und wir nur 2 Tage bekommen. Es wurde auch nicht gefragt ob sie wegen einer andern Unterkunft nachschauen können. Das Personal war zudem sehr unhöflich zu uns. Wir hatten kakerlaken im Zimmer haben Bilder davon gemacht und ihren gezeigt. Es die Mitarbeite garnicht interessiert und sie haben einfach nur gesagt ja das ist schlecht. Ich bin sehr unzufrieden mit der Unterkunft.
