Breakfast was delicious !
Nothing
Lets start with the positives-
Great Location close to the sea and in the old town.
Lovely pub with plenty of outdoor seating.
Really friendly staff and easy check in.
Great food in the pub and the continental breakfast was adequate with great coffee.
We stayed in the two bed apartment which you basically have the whole floor to yourself. Absolutely massive living space.
The bathroom lets it down as its small and not that interesting apart from the amazing swan tap.
The double bedroom is very dark and tbh a little creepy at night. The twin room....the beds are obviously for children rather than adults and would be good to know that before.
Due to the age of the building theres lots of creaking floorboards etc and the way in and out after the pub closed is a bit convuluted also you get noise from people walking up the fire escape.
Sadly due to it being a sunny day and even though we were told the pub shut at midnight there were still people drinking in both front and back gardens till past 1am so it was very noisy in the bedrooms. Do not expect to get much sleep.
Also they only had one set of keys which wasn't ideal for a group of friends staying.
Ultimately though I would stay here again as the place has a charm to it and i want to see what a normal double room is like...
Too much noise till late from the pub gardens
Its location, its quirkiness, the staff were very friendly, the history of the building was interesting.
The shower in the room didn’t have a shower curtain to cover the shower which would be fine if you were a couple in a room but not so much with friends or family.
The staff were wonderful, very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The decor of the hotel was very appealing, with thoughtful, quirky little touches everywhere.
We paid almost £400 for 2 nights in a double en-suite room. We needed an en-suite as my husband has severe Crohn's disease and often needs frequent/quick access to a toilet during the night.
We assumed that we would have a toilet in the ensuite, but it turned out that the 'ensuite' was a walk-in shower and small handbasin in the corner of the bedroom. To use the toilet we needed to go a short way down the corridor, including down 4 stairs, to a room containing 3 toilets.
The manager was very apologetic and explained that the toilets in this room were labelled with the names of the three bedrooms they served. By way of an apology he kindly gave us a bottle of wine.
Although attractive the room was quite small. There was no room for a wardrobe or set of drawers, or even a small chair, so the only place to sit in the room was on the bed.
There was no TV or radio, and there was no room for a mini-fridge or for a tray with a kettle, cups, tea and coffee, etc.
To compensate for this there is another small and very attractive room close by in the corridor called Reggie's Bar. Here there are snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, with an honesty box, and tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits, which are freely available. This is a lovely little room, but for us, we would have preferred a kettle and cups in our room, for a late night and early morning cuppa.
If we has read the listing more thoroughly, we would have understood that there was no toilet in the 'en-suite' and since this mattered a great deal to us, we would not have booked the hotel, so we do appreciate that this was a mistake on our part. Having said that, we think that when a room is described as 'en-suite', most people would expect a toilet.
Everything
Brilliant location, excellent food, staff extremely accommodating and helpful. The courtyard at the back was beautiful and each bedroom was uniquely designed by local designers.
Brilliant
Own bathroom but close and very nice
fab location great team and excelllent hotel
Beautiful, quirky rooms. Very clean and communal bathrooms really nice. Photos don’t do it justice. We were a big group and the staff were really relaxed and accommodating. Would for sure stay again, a real hidden gem.
Nothing
The communal space in the apartment and most of the rooms were absolutely stunning, spacious and luxurious.
Nothing really. If I had to pick something, the kitchen could have been better kitted out. But we asked the staff and they provided, so I really can't complain!
Great team , beautiful rooms. Would stay again , great attention to detail
I liked everything
Bucket loads of character.
Excellent location.
