Rawana Mount View - Ella

L'endroit est un peu isolé mais il en vaut clairement le detour !! Mister Blom va vous emmener pour une journee fantastique autour de Ella Rock et little Adam's Peak. C'est beaucoup plus agreable que d'etre au milieu de la foule ou de groupes.

Rawana Mount View Hotel is a wonderful place to stay! The mountain views are stunning, and the hotel’s unique design makes it special. We really enjoyed the village tour with Mr. Blom the short hike to Eagle Rock Mountain gave us breathtaking views.

The Upper Rawana natural pool was another highlight bathing there was so refreshing! We also loved the cooking activities, which gave us a real taste of Sri Lankan flavors.

The staff were always friendly and helpful, making us feel at home. This hotel is a true hidden gem surrounded by nature, paddy fields, and local culture, away from the busy city life.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants a peaceful and authentic Sri Lankan experience.

During our recent trip to Ella, we had the pleasure of staying at Rawana Mount View and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm Sri Lankan hospitality that made us feel like part of the family.
The owner and his assistant was really friendly and were incredible hosts. They greeted us with smiles, offered us a refreshing drink, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay.

The food at Rawana Mount View is simply delicious! Every meal was bursting with fresh flavors, and we highly recommend trying their traditional Sri Lankan dishes. Breakfast was a highlight—especially the Sri Lankan pancakes and freshly brewed tea. Dinner was a special experience as well, with options that reflect the local culinary heritage. The meals are prepared with love and care, and you can really taste the authenticity in every bite.
One of the highlights of our stay was the local guide, Mr Blum, that the owners introduced us to. He was not only knowledgeable about the area but also extremely passionate. We had a fantastic evening walk to Eagle Rock to watch the sun go down and his insights made the trip so much more enriching. His guidance and stories about his meetings with leopards were highly entertaining.
Comfortable Rooms with Hot Showers
The rooms at Rawana Mount View are cozy and very comfortable. The bed was perfect for a good night's sleep after a long day of sightseeing. The highlight was the hot shower—after hiking through the lush landscapes, it was an absolute treat! The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and provide the perfect balance of rustic charm and modern comfort.

If you are looking for a real Sri Lankan experience this is where you should go. The hotel is located in a beautiful Sri Lankan village and has amazing views over the jungle and rocky mountains. The food is freshly made, authentic and plentyful served with much care.
The waterfall and views hike with Laksman Blom was the highlight of our stay. He is such an enthousiastic and kind guide and a very knowlegdable local legend. He's the go to person for everything and we loved spending time with him and even met his mother in her home!

Peaceful and wonderful facilities, it has been our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka.
Note this property is 40mins from town but definitely worth waking up to a gorgeous view over a valley and the sounds of the nearby village waking up with you. You just need to factor that into your day. So if you are looking for a place you can hike from the property to places like Eagle Rock (I recommend the local guide Blom (his surname from Dutch ancestry) and a swimming hole at the top of Revamna Falls where only a few locals will be sharing it with you, then this the place for you. The food was also excellent (roasted potatoes with curry leaves was a favourite) - only issue is that they overdo the amount of food that they put in front of you! (Be warned - similar to other places we stayed in Sri Lanka they cook to order so you might have to wait a while for food). It was also my birthday when we were there and they were so sweet putting up balloons and making a big fuss with a special Sri Lankan candle and a cake that my son decided was the best cake he's ever had - presumedly because it was at breakfast!
Outside each room are bean bags; a swing seat and a sofa. They have made it very comfortable to be on the baloney watching the sun setting behind the mountains.

It is very rarely when I decide to leave a rating on the internet of the places I visit. But our stay was made incredibly unforgettable by Blom, who showed us around his village, his home, village’s paddy fields etc. We also went to waterfalls and viewpoints but these you can find anywhere. What made it special was Blom’s sincere, jolly presence. A fantastic way to spend a day in Ella region!

Exceptionally friendly owner/manager Mr Paimisiri. Could not have been kinder - he is a 10/10 as was his daughter. Superb dinners each evening. There’s not a menu as such - they suggested curry and rice and served up high quality range of 5-6 dishes. Really excellent variety and quality each night. Lovely walk through the small tea plantation and along the river with Mr P. Could have continued on to the top of Ravana Falls but we didn’t like the leeches, following the storm the night before - luckily no bites ! Really well looked after and lovely, out of the way place in stunning forest and mountain setting. Lovely designed guest house.

Wonderful stay in Shangri-la La. Could easily spend several days just enjoying the view from the balcony. All your needs taken care of. Enjoyed meeting Mr. Blom, a local guide.

We had a very pleasant stay here during our Pekoe Trail hike (it was a nice little detour). The room and the hotel in general were very cozy and decorated nicely!
The place would be ideal for large groups as the rooms are connected through an outside balcony. Mr. Bloom was very kind and the Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast was delicious!

An absolutely amazing place! We truly enjoyed the calm and peaceful environment, which made our stay so relaxing. The service was exceptional, and every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we can't wait to visit again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect getaway!
