The property, room, cleanliness, safety, security, bed and location to the malls was all excellent.
Unfortunately the matriarc/manager of the property's persona can only be described as manic and elevated, and I was a psychiatric nurse and Social Worker for 17 years. When I enquired as to why there were Christmas decorations in September, she responded, "Oh don't worry about that, every day is Christmas!" For the next few days constant overtalkativeness and insistance to accompany her to places reaffirmed her elevated mood level. It made me feel uncomfortable to be around her as she was constantly harrassing me, to the point I was afraid to go dowstairs in case she was there. Finally after days of this I said I need space but she persisted until I assertively said, "Please, leave me alone".
The internet, which consistantly cut out was dowloading at under 10mb/s making it unusable for my work, The manager said she would get it fixed, but was having one of her episodes, so evidently forgot and the issue was not resolved. The day before leaving I asked if I could have a late check out of two hours as my next hotel check-in was not until 3, to which she refused, saying, "You can pack your bags and leave them in the living room, but your hotel should be able to do that to". Fed up with the mania and rudeness, I left that day, a day early.

This is the first time I lived in a homestay, so I was a bit anxious, But our hostess was very kind and we felt quite at home.
Everrthing was super clean which I appreciated. And she gave us some tips for our stay.
To be honest it wasn't clear from the listing that it was a homestay.
Also, our room had quite a bit of empty space and a sofa would have been nice. Also, chairs and tables in the balcony would have been lovely.
We had the most wonderful stay—it was absolutely amazing and so memorable! The location is perfect, close to everything yet peaceful, making it the ideal place to relax. The property itself was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, giving us such a cozy and welcoming feeling throughout our stay.
What truly made the experience extra special was the owner, Kelly. She is one of the sweetest and most caring hosts we’ve ever met. We had such lovely conversations with her, and she went above and beyond to make us feel at home. She also gave us so many thoughtful recommendations for places to visit, which made our trip even more enjoyable.
We genuinely loved everything about this stay and would definitely choose it again when we return to Penang. It felt less like just accommodation and more like staying with a kind friend who truly cares. Highly, highly recommended! 🌸✨

Ms. Ong and her family were delightful. Ms. Ong was most generous with her time and recommendations. I had multiple invites for hikes, but unfortunately I was recovering from an ankle injury. The property is immaculate and very comfortable. A few minutes walk to the Gurney malls and short Grab ride to Georgetown proper. I assure you my next visit to Penang... Ms. Ong's property is the only place I'll stay!

Location was excellent, away from the main road yet super convenient to walk to Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon, even Pulau Tikus wet market. So quiet and private, I had a really good sleep! The host Kelly is incredibly kind and friendly :)

We had an amazing experience staying at La Bella Maison 12 in Penang. The house was beautifully maintained — everything was super clean and neat, which made us feel right at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we all had such a good night’s sleep.
What we really loved was how kids-friendly the place is. It felt safe and cozy, which is perfect for families traveling with little ones. On top of that, the owner was extremely friendly and welcoming — communication was smooth, and they went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed.
Overall, it was a truly pleasant stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a clean, comfy, and family-friendly homestay in Penang!
