Important information:

From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted.

Sahur Buffet will be serve from 4.30am till 5.30am at The Straits Estate Restaurant, level M3 during Ramadan.Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

Overcharged: deeply unsatisfactory
Pros:

Clean, good air-con, spacious, good shower

Cons:

VE Hotel do not seem to have control of their reservation system. On 16th January I booked via Booking.com for a single night (4th March). On 17th January I contacted the hotel and asked them to add a second night (5th March). On 17th January they sent me a confirmation email that we had a room booked for two days. We received no other communication from them. On checking in, we were informed that they had booked TWO rooms, one for two nights and one for a single night. Their explanation was that the booking had been through Bookong.com but the extension had been directly with them. This is against common sense and inconsistent with their email of 17th January (either we had extended OR booked a second room; it could not be both). They charged the additional room to my card as a no-show, despite our being there and challenging the charge. This was unprofessional and incompetent at best. We will NOT be using this hotel again.

The customer service is going to be the reason a good hotel gets bad reviews.
Pros:

The room was spacious and quiet for the most part. The gym, pool and sauna are good as well. I had the deluxe room, and the bed was very comfy and soft. I will return for the amenities and bed. The customer service/communication needs work.

Cons:

The staff is not great at communicating. We would call downstairs and they would block our calls (mine and 2 neighbors I met here) from coming to the front desk until shift change at 11pm. They do not answer the phones. I had to call from my personal device in order to speak with someone and receive assistance. Also, the water shut off in the middle of my shower. They neglected to tell us that we would not have water during the day from 8 am to 6 pm.

Good location and a comfortable stay option
Pros:

Good location and well managed property

Cons:

A foul smell from an old mop. Stays on for long due to central AC system. Had to change rooms due to strong odour
