We had a wonderful stay at this homestay. Hue is incredibly sweet and welcoming, and she personally takes care of everything. She did her absolute best to make us feel comfortable, always running around to help with a smile. The place is very cozy, the atmosphere is lovely, and the view is absolutely beautiful. We truly enjoyed our time here.
Beautiful scenery, good and honest manager, Her and her family name is Tinh. Quiet space
They arranged the room I booked, wrong with Booking but never apologized, because they thought I booked a cheap room and was poor.
It’s a nice and very calm place with beautiful surroundings, a lot of hiking possibilities around. Breakfast was different every day and always delicious. Owner and her family are very nice. Room is basic but you have everything what you need. Be prepared for a rooster wake-up call - this is the village life. I extended my stay for a few days.
The lady was so lovely, she made us lunch one day and it was really cold so she gave us extra blankets which were so warm and cozy!
The room was dark and sooooo cold. It was a loft conversion with some gaps in the ceiling. Lots of cobwebs and spiders and no windows. Also the balcony was technically there.. but I don't know if you can really count it as a room with a balcony. Toilet is downstairs and outside which is slightly inconvenient too. Really far from Sapa town. In this location you can't move 10 feet without a Hmong lady harassing you.
Cozy and clean place for stay with affordable price
Incredible location, scenery, and absolutely lovely service from Chin. It’s this kind of a place where u just wanna forget about everything. Great breakfast, awesome massage, herbal baths.. and a wonderful spa overall.
As much as I loved this place, some things need to be corrected since a lot of information on Booking.com is misleading.
Private rooms do not have bathrooms; they are outside, and you have to walk downstairs from the first floor.
Additionally, private rooms offer very little privacy due to walls made of bamboo, meaning there is no noise isolation between the rooms and the outside world. If you’re visiting in winter, be aware that it will be very cold.
The homestay's manager, Chin, welcomed us with a smile. We went together to the market to pick some fresh food and cooked Vietnamese food for dinner.
The property is nice in general, with a great vibe, and with a kitchen you can use to cook your meal if you ask.
There is no heating but only a fireplace in the kitchen so it gets easily cold in all the property. Ask for more blankets if you are here in winter.
I stayed in a room away from the Charm Spa within a family guesthouse which was unexpected but had access to the Charm Spa facilities. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with the family on the first night.
The room itself was very basic but also reflective of the price. The staff were friendly especially Chin who was very helpful and friendly. She really went above and beyond to make my stay a comfortable one.
There was no lock on my door and because I was staying within the family home, someone opened my door after a night out. Genuine mistake though and they apologised.
Friendly staff.
Beautifully located in the mountains
Near a beautiful river
Excellent food
I was looked after when I was sick, so I felt safe whilst being on my own in a strange country
Hot herbal bath is a great treat
Having a massage when you want is also great.
Good WiFi. I am a digital nomad so good internet is important
I met nice people who I connected with and actually continued travelling with for a few days
If you travel in winter it is cold. Rooms are not heated. As in most places by the way. There is a fire in the kitchen and no isolation. Which is also normal in this country. Internet does not prepare you for this. The temperature in winter is much colder than I read online.
So take winter clothes. I had one warm day. Rain and a lot of fog.
The whole experience was incredible! Booking and checking in was very easy. I had my questions answered in advance and the staff was very communicative. When I arrived, I immediately sat by the fire and received some tea. The bedroom has a very thick cozy blanket and the heating pad on the bed was already turned on. I'm glad I asked about dinner. I added dinner for an extra 150k and it was SO worth it. Oh my gosh the food was exactly what I had hoped for!!! I had a very small lunch from trekking so I was very hungry and got to eat a lot. The food was amazing and there was a fabulous mix of spring rolls, chicken with lemon grass, salad, and bean sprouts. The breakfast was very charming and the view is incredible (I woke up to some sunshine which was nice). There's soothing music inside and everything was very relaxing. I asked to do a bath after hiking around that day. I came back for a very relaxing bath (the tub is very comfy). And then the staff coordinated a motorbike to bring me back to Sapa (for 100k which is the best price you'll see). Honestly, I wish I could have stayed longer just to enjoy the vibe and charm of the village.
Outside of the bed, I was still a little chilly, but that's also because it's winter and I have a small cold. I wish I wasn't sick so I could have stayed longer!!
I booked at the Charm Spa, just to have a base for a couple of days trekking, I ended up staying for an extra week! To be brief, I can describe the experience as life changing! The owner is a very special lady, during night hours spent around the fire place, she shared with me many aspects of life of the local ethnic cultures and about Vietnam history making me understand nowadays problems and ways of living.
The breakfast and meals she cooked for me every day were delicious, she in fact is a professional Vegan chef and author of several books and videos.
I caught a flu while I was in Ta Van, at the homestay I was looked after as a member of the family, and taken to an official natural remedy doctor, which was another amazing experience!
I also took several herbal baths which were reinvigorating, so the massages given to my aching knees, which are now better!
Without doubt I will return to Charming Spa Homestay should I go back to Ta Van in the future.
I had a great stay with Chahn and her sister Ting. I don't have enough superlatives to describe how grateful I am to them for their hospitality throughout my stay. Going out of their way to greet me on my late 10pm arrival. After a brutal, almost 10 hour motorcycle ride through mud, rain and cold from Hanoi, they ran around catering for me by running me a magical fired heated herbal spa bath, and frying me up some noodles. I felt absolutely fablous afterwards, and slept like a log thereafter. I woke to a beautiful, healthy breakfast. The hot herbal spa, in beautiful wooden tub, was so nice and peaceful in the lovely private rustic brick laiden room, that I just had to have another a few days later. As well as a great full body massage. I went there with no intent of either. But I was sold by the whole atmosphere of their place. I also decided to book an extra night, it was hard to leave. Absolute luxury considering you are in Remote Northern Vietnam.
Many thanks for your kindness and help along the way. Brett
Charm Spa and Homestay was an exceptional place to stay. Location in the mountains, you’re close to local restaurants and cafes. The charm spa offers foot massages and herbal baths - we tried the herbal bath and it was super relaxing! The room was clean, super warm and included breakfast, which was also great. Thanks again.
