The hotel's location on George Street is excellent and within easy walking distance of Oxford's main attractions, shops, and restaurants. We visited on a Wednesday, and despite the central location, the area was surprisingly quiet. We enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep without any disturbance. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable, which helped make our stay more enjoyable.
Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing. The hotel was undergoing renovation works during our visit, and the entrance area was crowded with building materials, making access difficult and creating a poor first impression.
As there is no lift, which may be common in many Oxford hotels, carrying luggage up several flights of stairs to reach reception was challenging. After checking in, we then had to climb additional stairs to reach our room. There was also noticeable dust from the ongoing renovation work throughout parts of the property.
The room itself was quite small and felt dated. Space was very limited, making it difficult to fully open the wardrobe, and there were very few hangers available for clothing. The bathroom was also extremely compact, with no practical surface to place even a small toiletry or makeup bag.
The only usable surface in the room was a table beneath the television, which also housed the kettle and tea-making facilities. This proved particularly inconvenient for two women attending a black-tie event, as there was very little space available for getting ready, storing personal items, or organising clothing and accessories.
While the location was convenient, the combination of ongoing renovation works, limited space, and lack of practical amenities made the stay less comfortable than expected.
Posizione
Pulizia
We loved the location within Oxford and the exceptional service from the hotel staff. The bed was comfortable and clean as well as the room itself. The hotel was presently under construction and therefore lacked air conditioning, heating, and had minimal “damage” throughout the facilities.
The location was noisy as advertised as it is located above a bar. There was music, yelling, and screaming throughout the night. The entrance was difficult to operate and to find for the first time. Our door had a strange code lock that made accessing our room inconvenient.
Merkezi olması
Oda çok eskiydi banyo gideri tıkandı,aşağıda pub vardı gece 3’e kadar bangır bangır müzik vardı uyuyamadık
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Excellent location. Only thing that could be improved would be the lobby and hallway which would benefit from a bit of modernization.
Everything was fine.
Nothing awful hotel
The hotel stank, the rooms were horrible, the shower was broken, noise from the bar downstairs kept me awake.
location
The location is superb. The hotel no longer does a breakfast as it did years ago but there are lots of places to eat within 100 yards of the property.
I only had a bath mat in my room not sure whether this was an oversight or not. Luckily I had taken one with me. The shower fitting was very loose, but was hot. I got no hot water through the basin tap. The room had a lot of holes filled and needed painting and there were no shades on the ceiling lights. I have stayed here a few times now over the years and know what to expect as the standard, I would never stay here with my wife or for more than 2 nights.
Nothing about my stay at Eurobar (now OXO Hotel" went well.
1) the noise - the hotel is right next to a night club that pumps out very loud music until 1.30am. 2) the dirt & grime - the Hotel is disgusting, the was mould on the walls, stale food left in the room, the kettle was unusable, the carpets were stained. 3) the facilities - the toilet seat was broken, no lamp shades on lights, barely functioning shower, shower cubical doors falling off rails, wifi router in room hanging by a wire from wall. 4) Health & safety - large commercial fridge in front of entrance was a fire hazard
- Central
- High enough in room 12 to not be disturbed by bar room music
Was under renovation but the room was amazing location is perfect 👌 well worth the money 💰
Lack of sign on the door that's visible walking passed
Good location
Do not rent this hotel. Slow renovation and rooms not ready for guests Still 6-10 months till ready for showing
Excellent location.
Spacious room with relatively comfortable bed.
Reasonably fast Wi-Fi - suitable for all purposes.
Decent natural light in the room.
Easy check-in and check-out, with friendly staff and quick assistance.
Facilities not in good condition - e.g., toilet got blocked, shower broken.
No warning that the hotel was under renovation - ongoing work around the hotel with noise and difficulty entering the building.
Quiet noisy due to proximity to main road without good noise insulation.
