The spar and the secluded rooms
The spa
Wedding co -ordiantor very efficient, got things done on time.
Not enough bar staff for the number of guests attending the wedding .
No lifts available for guests
The staff were very helpful and the beds were very comfortable.
Our room smelt a little of damp.
Very comfy, large bed. Quiet room
Beautiful hotel with lots of charm
Nothing to dislike
The hotel is well situated and easy to access. The staff were polite upon entry and the grounds of the hotel were quiet given its close proximity to a busy road. Overall had a nice calm aura.
5 hours before we were due to arrive we were told that the room was unavailable due to ‘maintenance issue’ and that we would have to be downgraded by two room types due to availability and that a small partial refund would be given. We felt this wasn’t really an acceptable form of compensation given the fact I had pre-booked this months in advance. We had also booked a breakfast with our stay but gave this a miss due to mixed reviews about the staff in the restaurant. Location and access to rooms is quite a trek from the lobby. Unfortunate booking that coincided with a wedding party that was rather loud throughout the night.
The Staff were very good. You cannot complain to the staff as the problems incured were not their fault. Fault lies with the owners or senior management as they are the ones who dictate changes or imporovements. The staff we spoke to were very helpful and tried to make our stay pleasant.
The hotel is beginning to look shabby and a bit dated now. The phones in the rooms had been removed as "(No-one uses them)" we were told. Room service was available but if you dont have a mobile phone then thats out. It is assumed that everyone has either mobile or a tablet nowadays. This is Not Good practice. The Room had nowhere to put any clothes and we were expected to use the writing desk drawer and the bedside cabinet to place our clothes in. (We were told it was "not required" to have a chest of drawers) If one stays for one night then fine but a stay of four or more nights requires change of clothes and we had to live out of a case.
There were a few coat hangers but that was all. The nets at the windows need washing. The breakfast was supposed to be cooked fresh but was clearly not. This Hotel is also definately NOT suitable for any disabled persons .Out side , the way around to the rear of the hotel has very uneaven stone slabs, which one can trip up on. The way to our room was unbelievable, (Up stairs to the top floor along a passage turning a corner , down a set of stairs again along and then down to ground level to where our room was). We were later told we could get to it by walking around the outside of ther hotel .The Television had a choice of channels but the signal was very sporadic and caused many channels to go off and on to a level they could not be watched. This Hotel is supposed to be a 4* star hotel . There is no way it reaches this level at the moment.
The location.
Booked two rooms, one for my wife and I , one for my daughter. Both with breakfast. Same price fir both rooms. I understand that if one person sleeps in a bed it takes the same amount of cleaning. But why charge me exactly the same price for both rooms. I feel I have been charged double for my daughters breakfast.
Surroundings, size of the room.
Too many stairs and too big a venue. Several meals weren't hot enough, breakfast teas and coffees were lukewarm.
Beautifully clean and comfortable. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for more.
Nothing!
Treatments and treatment are very good
Spa very disappointing . All glass doors windows very dirty . Very small spa area only 4 loungers and 4 other seats . 12 people in spa . Lounger cushions very dirty . Extremely disappointed with this spa
Fantastic staff
There was nothing I didn’t like about it
Breakfast was nice, I didn't try them, but my husband was very impressed with the sausages!
The food for evening meal was excellent (10+/10) :
The chef cooked my husbands steak EXACTLY how he likes it , which is a very unusual experience!
Unfortunately we had to complain about the amberent temperature in the bar and restaurant: much too cold !!
This was a stay in early February!
However, (like other diners, we put our coats on to eat dinner) and found that all the communal radiators had at some time been switched off!
Having amended this ourselves, we were able to enjoy our meal and post- dinner drinks.
