Lovely country inn with good rooms, food & facilities.
Pros:

The Red Lion is a warm and welcoming inn. The food was very good and the staff were very obliging on all requests and queries you may have. The breakfast was lovely and they portioned it exactly as I requested. My room was warm and comfy with all the facilities I needed.

Cons:

Nothing really, my ground floor room had a little traffic noise early in the morning but nothing to really bother about.
I ama light sleeper.

Absolutely Amazing Stay – Above and Beyond Kindness!
Pros:

I only stayed at The Red Lion Hotel for one night, but honestly, so much good can happen in just one evening and morning!

Madley is such a quiet, peaceful location, which was perfect before my interview the next day. The room was lovely and comfortable, and I really appreciated the historic character of the building — especially the main reception area and the breakfast room. The en suite bathroom was great too. The room was warm, the hot water worked perfectly, and the bed was really comfortable. I even had one of the most satisfying showers I’ve had in a while — the water pressure was better than mine at home!

After a long train journey from Leicester, I slept really well and woke up refreshed and ready for my interview. Breakfast was a classic full English — sausage, bacon, eggs, beans and mushrooms — simple, delicious, and exactly what I needed to start the day.

But what truly made this stay unforgettable was the kindness of the staff.

I had pre-booked an Uber for the morning, but when it was time to leave, no drivers were available in the area. I started to panic because I was worried about being late and missing my interview opportunity. I felt completely stranded.

The staff immediately stepped in to help. They were calm, reassuring, and incredibly supportive. They contacted the owner, who happened to be on the way to the hotel, explained my situation, and without hesitation, I was given a lift to my interview location — and they wouldn’t even accept payment for it.

I can’t describe how relieved I felt in that moment. It was such a genuine act of kindness toward someone they had only just met. It meant more to me than they probably realise.

From the warm welcome the night before to helping me in a stressful moment, everyone truly went above and beyond. I’ll never forget the experience.

I absolutely recommend this hotel — not just for the comfort and food, but for the incredible people who run it.

Cons:

The only thing I didn't like is...NOTHING! The stay was homely, the shower was great, the breakfast was delicious and filling, and the staff were all WONDERFUL! What can I say? I love EVERYTHING about The Red Lion hotel!

1 night stay at Red Lion
Pros:

Beautiful room, food was amazing, best pie I have ever had ! Staff were lovely.

Cons:

The room got incredibly hot as the heating was on full so although it was lovely when we first arrived, we woke at 3 a.m and were sweltering so had to turn the radiators off, however this is a personal preference.

We will be back
Pros:

We stay at the red lion when visiting Hereford it’s great old coaching inn with excellent rooms, food and staff and they cater for the dogs, even a sausage for breakfast each 🤩

Cons:

We visit Hereford and Madley is a few miles out of the city but they can’t help that and it’s worth the extra drive

Well worth it, ideal as an overnight stopover with breakfast included.
Pros:

Had a one night stay there, the room was clean, tidy and secure. Booked an evening meal there which was a ten out of ten. Quality excellent, portion size - brilliant. The real ale was great choice also. And the breakfast (included in the room price) - could not fault it. Could not fault any of the staff, they were all polite and helpful.

Warm, cosy, friendly comfortable old-fashioned inn with excellent food.
Pros:

It did everything it said on the tin. A warm, cosy, friendly country pub. The room was a little small and could have done with an armchair or two, but the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the service amazing. I'd go back.

Cons:

Maybe a comfy chair in the room or a comfy seating area somewhere (maybe beside on of the woodburners!).

Lovely comfortable stay
Pros:

Rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. We arrived earlier than expected but we were given our rooms straight away. All staff
were lovely. Friendly, had a sense of humour but were professional with it. We had a lovely evening meal my oxtail croquette and fish and chips were delicious and generous. The best chips! Breakfast followed suit and my poached eggs were just perfect. Not snotty white or hard yolk!

Cons:

Only thing was rooms were chilly on arrival but only had to turn radiators on (which probably wouldn't have been the case if we weren't so early) rooms quickly warmed up and temperature could be adjusted to suit.

room okay for summer maybe when weather is better, when not having to go back and forth to pub
Pros:

breakfast was okay. seating was very close, not much room had to ask to be moved

Cons:

room was not in main building, our room was quite small and the double bed was against the wall! this was not great as we both need to use facilities during the night. so bed had to be moved across. room very cold when we got there. room at dinner in the main pub very warm uncomfortably so.

The food here is absolutely sublime, that’s the whole reason we would love to come back if we are ever travelling that w
Pros:

Nice and out of the way of everything, the pub is such a lovely period property.

Cons:

Small carpark when arriving at the same time as people who were just dining. Could do with separate parking for people staying or designated spaces.
