Pros:

Very clean overall, stayed twice before,

Cons:

Room is right to busy road, no airccon so had to leave window open, the noise or the road made it a hard nights sleep. .
Discarded coke can left open in the room from previous guest.
No coffee pods left in the drawer to use

Pros:

lovely, clean and reliable stay! second time i’ve stayed here and it’s great for a weekend away hiking. The receptionist was absolutely joyful and so kind, especially helping us with our oil lid! can’t thank him enough he was so helpful! (although i can’t remember his name, thank you again!) Free cake was a lovely touch, and location is great from popular hiking destinations.

A pleasant base for local exploring
Pros:

The hotel provides everything you need for a pleasant stay. Room was spacious and clean, well decorated. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly and helpful when needed. We arrived to a double room setup when we had requested a twin but this was quickly rectified.

Cons:

We had a second floor, road facing room. The traffic noise from the nearby main road was a bit annoying, particularly as the room is hot and the window needed to be open.

Would 100% go back
Pros:

This is a perfect place for a Peak District stay. We had two evening meals here which were OK but nothing special. The breakfast however really was fantastic. Its not quite full-English but it really doesn't miss it, there are tons of other options and even the basic scrambled egg and bacon was superb. Its unlimited, and with juice and good coffee too. The bar seems OK but the whole place is not really a drinking vibe, most people here are hiking or biking (of course). Its very dog-friendly and around half the visitors seemed to have a dog or two. We didn't have any problems with noise at night, and the room was dark. The bedroom was large and the bed comfortable. This is a good location for the Peak District. There is nothing really within a few minutes walk of the hotel, but there is bike hire on site which you can use to explore the region, and within 30 minutes walk there is Hathersage on one side and Castleton on the other, both of which have tons of things to do. The pork pies in the Castleton bakery are a must-try! And obviously you can do multi-hour hikes to some of the most scenic places in the UK, the options are limitless.

Cons:

The only flaw was that it was too warm at night. This may be down to the exceptional summer of 2026, who knows yet? There is a fan provided but no aircon and we struggled for the first couple of nights.
