Having a refrigerator and freezer in the room, and the location.
Although Aspen runs expensive, we thought the room was incredibly overpriced. The mechanical blinds on each of the 3 windows were broken. One was stuck up, one down, and one stuck sideways across the window - left side down, right side up. The view was of an alley, and a brick wall with 3 large dumpsters right below. Lots of noise from glass bottles being disposed of often. The building across the alley (very close) is under major construction, so constant noise starting very early, with people working who could see right in. There were curtains that we had to keep pulled for privacy on the one window that had the broken blind up, so there was no natural light at all, and very little electrical light provided, so the room was very dark. The windows did not open either, so there was no fresh air (although…the dumpsters).
The listing mentioned that an “American breakfast” is included, so we didn’t expect the great buffets of Europe, but it was worse than what you would see at a budget motel. For what was served, I wouldn’t mention it in the listing.
The amenities were, it seemed, the absolute cheapest they could find. Guests should bring their own shampoo, conditioner, and soap (the soap was a tiny hard bar that wouldn’t lather no matter how hard I tried, and the same with the shampoo - my hair was still dirty after washing it!).
Overall, I’d just like to say that I’ve never written a bad review, but I’d like to warn people about this room. We paid almost $700 per night, and had I known these things (and more that I didn’t mention), I wouldn’t have rented it and felt so taken advantage of.
On the positive side, the room was clean, and we had housekeeping one of the three days, and she did a great job!
Also, the location is wonderful for being able to walk around. Unfortunately, we drove there, and the hotel is in a pedestrian only area.
