Luxury 2 Bedroom 2 Bathroom With Fitness Center and Pool

It was in Marina Del Rey and my people were staying in DTLA and our function was at the USC so I was far away from everyone and getting around proved more expensive than I bargained.

This was, without question, the worst experience I have ever had with any accommodation booking in my life.

We had a stay booked in advance, only for the host to cancel on us at the very last minute literally the day before we were due to arrive. No proper warning, no reasonable explanation, just a sudden cancellation that completely disrupted our plans saying that works needed to be done at the property

To make matters even worse, our £600 payment was not refunded immediately. Instead of taking responsibility, the host simply told us to contact Booking.com. From that point on, the situation became even more frustrating — Booking.com was extremely slow to respond and offered no urgent support whatsoever, despite the fact that we were effectively left stranded with nowhere to stay in LA

The host then stopped communicating entirely. No replies, no updates, nothing. We were left in limbo, out of pocket, and under huge stress trying to find last-minute accommodation. In the end, we had no choice but to borrow money from our son just to secure another place to stay.

The excuse given was that “works were planned,” but this raises serious questions. If that was the case, why was the property listed and available for booking in the first place? This is something the host clearly should have known well in advance and managed responsibly, rather than cancelling on guests at the last possible moment.

This whole situation was handled terribly from start to finish. It shows a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer care both from the host and from Booking.com.

I would strongly advise others to think twice before booking here. This host should not be allowed to continue operating on the platform after treating guests this way.

As for Booking.com, this experience has completely destroyed any trust I had in the platform. I will never use it again especially when you end up chatting to an AI agent that has no emotions or feelings whatsoever

Everything was fine

The kitchen was somewhat sparsely equipped (e.g. glasses, cereal bowls and containers). But our landlord reacted immediately when we noticed something was missing and delivered the missing items. That was good service. So in the end everything turned out alright.

Would have been nice to have some additional cooking items (salt pepper, cooking oil, coffee filters), but we didn't miss them too much for this stay.
