A huge disappointment - and waste of money!

The location is excellent.

Cons:

We have stayed at Coquelles on numerous occasions (originally with Ibis or SuiteHotels) and have always liked it, mainly because of the location. Because we were staying for three nights, I decided to book the B&B 4 stars - and it certainly doesn't merit a 4 star rating in any respect. We would have been far better staying in the 3 star (we ate there on evening anyway.

The safe was left open but in the locked position so we couldn't use it. By way of explanation, we had been in France for 4 weeks so had lots of luggage, and we always use our final stop to sort our luggage for the journey home to Scotland. By the time we had discovered the problem with the safe, we had lots of stuff out of our cases and didn't want to leave valuables while somebody came to fix it. As a result, we didn't have our room tidied during our stay, because - again - we didn't want anyone in the room when we couldn't leave valuables in the safe.

Another problem was that the tap in the bath didn't work, and on the final evening my wife wanted to have a bath - so she had to fill the bath from the shower fitting!

The top sheet on the bed had a horrible mark on it as though tea or coffee had been spilt on it. Picture attached.

We have stayed at B&B Hotels around France and many times at Coquelles - and have spent a considerable sum of money with them. However, for the first time, we feel that our

B&B 4: Friendly staff and clean hotel.
Pros:

Proximity to le shuttle, choice of food and drink, comfortable and clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful, plus they accepted dogs.

Cons:

Car park wasn’t very clean which didn’t set a good first impression.

Not quite as four star as expected
Pros:

This hotel is very convenient for using the Channel Tunnel. It is very large with a big car park. The room we had was large with a small cooking area as well as the standard fittings for the bedroom and bathroom.

Cons:

There are multiple buildings that make up the hotel, and it was difficult to find where we should go to check in. Better signage to reception would help to avoid this problem. There was a step to enter both the bathroom and lavatory areas from the main room, which could be dangerous for people who are not very mobile.
