Great place to recover before your Sri Lanka adventure
Pros:

This was very comfortable and the pool area was lovely. Great breakfast and friendly staff.
Perfect to get over the jetlag and get ready to start our adventure

Cons:

A bit of a mixup as we booked a pick up from the airport, but the driver could not park and it took awhile to find him

Prima verblijf in Negombo.
Pros:

Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Heerlijk zwembad om even af te koelen. Op wandelafstand van restaurantjes.

Cons:

In 1 van de kamers maakte de airco wel zeer veel lawaai. Hierdoor konden we niet goed slapen.

The worst treatment I’ve ever received whilst travelling in Sri Lanka

I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience at Hotel Cloud 9 Negombo, and I would not recommend staying here.

First of all, the atmosphere was not welcoming at all. In the morning, I was quietly studying at the only table in the kitchen, which is presented as a shared space for all guests. However, the owner approached me and rudely told me to move, claiming that the table was actually his personal workspace. This was both confusing and uncomfortable, as it directly contradicted what is advertised.

There was also a serious issue with the check-out time. On Booking, it was clearly stated that check-out was at 14:00, but the owner insisted that we had to leave by 10:00. When we tried to explain the discrepancy, he was unhelpful and inflexible.

What made things even worse was the complete lack of basic courtesy regarding our departure. We had a late-night flight and politely asked if we could use the pool or at least take a quick shower in the afternoon after returning from the beach. The owner refused entirely, unless we paid for an additional night. This felt unreasonable and showed no consideration for guests’ needs.

After traveling around Sri Lanka for a month, this was the first time we had such a negative experience. In every other accommodation across the country, people were kind, welcoming, and always tried to help with any issue. This place was the complete opposite.

For 30 euros per night, this accommodation is simply not worth the price. It was also the first place we stayed in that did not have a private bathroom—only a shared one—which was not clearly justified by the cost. There was no welcome water provided, which is something we received everywhere else in Sri Lanka, and even the thermos pot in the room was not working.

Overall, the service was poor, the communication was misleading, and the attitude of the owner was unfriendly and unaccommodating. I would strongly advise future travelers to choose a different place to stay.

Good place for a night or two pre or post holiday
Pros:

We stayed here due to its proximity to the airport and had a deluxe room with airport drop off included. Clean and comfortable room with everything we needed. Good breakfast. Clean and good sized pool with plenty of sun lounges. Good place to chill at the end of our month in Sri Lanka before a late night flight.

Cons:

Everything was good but would only stay in Negombo for its proximity to the airport.
