The only reason I am rating this place a 2 instead of a 1 is because of the two reception boys. They were incredibly dedicated, helpful, and hardworking. They spent an hour cleaning our room late at night, helped us catch a rodent, and even assisted us with an ATM withdrawal. The owner should be incredibly grateful to have such staff. Unfortunately, the management is a complete disaster.
Our 5-night stay at Home Away Ky Con was in our opinion an absolute nightmare, characterized by unhygienic conditions and unethical behavior from the manager. I arrived late to find the room was poorly cleaned and covered in small animal droppings. Because of the late hour, professional cleaning wasn't available, so the reception boys spent an hour cleaning it for us. At 3:00 AM, strange noises woke us up. More droppings had appeared around our belongings and when we shook the fridge, a mouse ran out and started to run around the room! I run downstairs for the reception boys who came up to helped us catching it (picture attached). Terrified of pests, bacteria, and our belongings being ruined, we asked for a room change. The manager claimed no rooms were free in the building and offered a middle-of-the-night taxi relocation to another branch. We refused and agreed to switch rooms the next day instead. We spent the rest of the night with the lights on and barely slept.
The next day, we were exhausted. To make matters worse, the second room they gave us was also dirty, forcing us to wait another hour for it to be cleaned, which heavily disrupted our sightseeing itinerary in Ho Chi Minh City.
The manager’s behavior throughout this was and shocking. Before arriving, an employee repeatedly messaged me on WhatsApp asking me to cancel my Booking.com reservation and book directly with them for a small discount. I refused. During the midnight mouse crisis, the manager on the phone insisted again that we cancel our booking. I refused again. Although we appreciate help from reception boys, the hotel was responsible for putting us in a room where a rodent ran over our belongings and snacks. For this completely ruined night, they offered a 200,000 VND compensation (approx the price of two egg coffees in HCMC). Our entire stay was for 5 nights, costing a total of 3,400,000 VND.
We found very food around the area and staff is friendly and helpful. Neighbors are nice and safe there.
A few materials are old but they are clean. Like the wall with kid’s drawing and food stamp but I didn’t take photos because it is not serious.

Decent space in apartment to have your suitcase/bags and not feel too crowded
Very good value for money, with a spacious room and a great location. We booked at the last minute and arrived very late with limited communication while travelling, yet the check-in process was smooth and the communication throughout was excellent.

Washing machine came in very handy in the heat. Good size fridge/freezer. Good location.
Mattress is very hard and the apartment could be a bit cleaner.
