Very nice high quality rooms and bathrooms with a really warm welcoming pub on site with nice food too
Was given a double room on arrival when we required a twin. We were then given another room but the sofa bed was broken. Had to wait for a further room to become available. All in all this took almost an hour, which after a 4 hour car journey was not ideal. You would normally expect some kind of gratuity, maybe a food discount or a drink but nothing was offered, although I didn’t ask either. I must say this would not stop me staying here again though
The room was beautifully decorated, very clean and a great size. The curtains were great quality and blocked out all light. The tea and coffee selection was great.
Unfortunately the light on the dresser wasn't working which made getting ready tricky in the evening. The milk for the tea and coffee in the room had to be collected from the bar which is a completely separate building. Not ideal when you first wake up. Our room was next to the hallway door which people slammed against the wall as they went past. This clearly happens a lot as there is a dent in the wall! This woke us twice. On our arrival for breakfast at 9.20 the selection of pastries were nil, there were no glasses for juice and very little juice in the jug. The amount of bread left for toast meant we took the last 2 slices. The cooked breakfast was ok although I'm not sure the sausages were Cumberland as advertised. In my opinion the selection was poor therefore don't think it was worth the money.
Receptionist very pleasant. Hotel was very clean. Kettle in the room with good selection of teas, coffee and biscuits. Hand written note from manager in room wishing us a pleasant stay and two lovely chocolates which was nice touch. Bed super comfy and great shower over bath. Bar area was nice and staff pleasant.
The resturant food was terrible. Noticed some diners sending food back. My partner informed the waitress the chicken burger he was served was inedible due to it being rock hard, she offered him a free pudding. He refused and was then offered his meal refunded which he accepted. I only had a starter which I ate little of I should have complained but did not.. We had continental breakfast in the morning as we did not want to take the risk of a cooked breakfast.
Stayed in one of the refurbished rooms with walk in shower, liked what you have done!
All the staff very friendly and professional . Food and service was excellent.😀
Good breakfast - though spoilt by poor, lukewarm coffee from a vacuum flask
Room was quite dark and none of the (plentiful) lights were quite in the right place for the task or produced a good enough light.
Easy to find, great food too
Friendly service upon arrival onwards. The receptionist couldn't be more helpful and rang across to the restaurant to ensure we didn't miss out before the kitchen closed (after a late arrival).
Also, lovely addition of nice chocolates and teas etc in the room!
The room didn't lock when it was closed to. However, this was quickly rectified by the receptionist and we moved rooms. Something to check when closing door and don't assume it automatically locks!
Despite being very busy for mothers day the staff went above and beyond to make our 2 night stay as good as always.
Very nice family room with a single bed, double bed and sofa, and nice bath room
Easy, free parking right at the hotel
Clean and friendly
Nothing
Room was fine and breakfast was good.
\\\\restusrant needs face lift.
I enjoy how quiet it is, I enjoy how warm and welcoming it is inside the restaurant and bar area, I enjoy the food and it is fairly priced for what you receive, I enjoy the staff that work there and they are one of the main reasons I keep coming back, they deserve all the credit because without them being such a good team and providing excellent service people wouldn’t want to come back. I also like how they now have people manning the desk in reception of the hotel through out different times of the day which is very helpful and saves the trip into the restaurant to enquire about things.
There isn’t anything I don’t like about the property.
Clean and comfortable
Nothing
The Ely is in a very good location for us being close to our daughter’s home. We have stayed at the Ely many times over the years the beds are comfortable and well equipped.
The heated towel rail didn’t work and this has been a common fault in several rooms in the past.
It was clean and very friendly staff.
The bed was uncomfortable.
