Comfortable bed, good value for money
Pros:

The Ely is in a very good location for us being close to our daughter’s home. We have stayed at the Ely many times over the years the beds are comfortable and well equipped.

Cons:

The heated towel rail didn’t work and this has been a common fault in several rooms in the past.

Pub was excellent as was the food - the hotel room left a bit wanting.

The pub and food were excellent.

Cons:

The hotel room was ok but in the accessable bathroom - the sink was positioned so you had to sit at an angle on the toilet - enough that your legs were in the way of one of the side rails. The toilet roll holder was positioned on the wall well behind so you couldn't reach it. Whoever designed that part of the wet room wasn't disabled! The room also smelt extremely strongly of bleach and the room itself smelt strongly of some sort of air freshner or something that didn't really go despite opening the window. As I said the pub was excellent as was the food - the hotel room left a bit wanting.

Staff very friendly and helpful.
Good selection of teas, coffees etc and kettle in room.
Very clean.

Hot water far too hot and dangerous. Could it be adjusted?

Very comfortable, well appointed room, with a few unexpected bonuses
Pros:

The quality of the rooms and liitle extras such as the hit chocolate and coffee bags. It was quiet and a very comfy room.

Cons:

We did have to move rooms. Our first room had a strong smell of cigarettes, a surprise for a non- smoking hotel. The issue was resolved quickly, but I can imagine at a busier time a solution may not have been as simple.

Great value for money, would definitely return.
Pros:

Lovely staff, room decor was lovely and some small finishing touches that really elevated the experience.

Disappointing this time
Pros:

Staff were friendly and helpful. On site EV charging.

Cons:

Plumbing problem in first room. Moved promptly to another room, missing towels, heating turned off. Worn out mattress (which we only discovered when we went to bed), swapped next day. Constant noise from air con units at the back of the function room. Yet again there were items on the breakfast menu that were not available. Apart from the perpetual missing 'berry brioche' from the breakfast menu this was not typical of our past experience at this hotel, which has normally been positive.

Really comfortable rooms, well done out. Friendly staff.

Staff were really friendly. The rooms were a very high quality & super comfortable.

Cons:

The WiFi from the pub doesn’t quite extend to the hotel, phone signal very limited there too.
