It had a spa
A bit out of the way to walk to the village
Cally Palace is in a beautiful location with attractive views. Our duty manager (who I believe is also the catering manager) was extremely considerate to the needs of my party which included one member who used a mobility scooter.
Dinner was extremely disappointing.
Having called before booking to explain we needed one of our 3 rooms to be mobility scooter accessible, it was disappointing to discover reception did not know who to put where and initially we were allocated inappropriate rooms. Also reception is inaccessible to a mobility scooter.
Cakes and light snacks to be available at lunchtime/afternoon
A little comfy outdoors seating would be appreciated
Beautiful externally great setting
Poor state of repair. Bed very uncomfortable. Room far too hot with no real ability to moderate temperature.
Dining room and bar area dated and basic. No tv outside of room.
Location was lovely
The hotel bedroom carpet was really worn my mum room had racing cars wallpaper , steep stairs , were put really far away from my elderly mum didn’t ask to change due to rude reception male . breakfast was poor didn’t eat dinner in hotel due to rude reception staff … arrived at two told no access to room till 3 ….we were in room above staff t break area some of the language was bad then all the pick ups and drop offs for laundry and rubbish made for an awful night also WiFi not good
The breakfast was poor, the bowls and plates were not clean and we had to check everything before we could use it. We travelled throughout Scotland and this was the poorest breakfast. This hotel needs a good general manager to bring the staff service up to scratch, they are all pleasant enough but there is no one in charge and it all felt lacking in structure. The reception staff were not helpful, and we received no guidance from them as to any of the hotel’s facilities.
As above
Location is beautiful
Uncomfortable beds, noisy room on car park next to stairwell, doors slamming all the time. Room was hot and windows hardly opened. Staff charge extra for things like an ice bucket!
Staff and surroundings were very good, a very relaxing holiday. Food was excellent and service was amazing. Swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna were great.
Parts of the hotel was a little run down and the future in the bedroom were dated with chip marks and scorch marks on the wooden surfaces. Outside our veranda the grass and tarpaulin was visible with weeds growing through in-between the bushes.
More information on the Palace and the grounds would have been helpful to explain its past and the people who lived there and the family history.
The golf facility
The staff on the reception are not trained correctly to welcome guests and show little interest in giving information about the hotel and it’s facilities, meal times etc
The breakfast is poor compared to the breakfasts we have enjoyed while staying in Scotland for the last two weeks
Breakfast was good. Location is excellent. The jewel in the crown though, has to be the 2 gilded lounges.
Have been a few times now and that really speaks for itself.
A small thing at breakfast though. Table service has been replaced by a buffet style breakfast and 2 coffee machines.
At this price point you would expect table service. This you can find in local cafes at a fraction of this price point.
C'mon Cally Pally, the grand old building deserves a little class!
Beautiful location and interior in main building
Bed was extremely uncomfortable and bedrooms were like stepping back in time. The decor was just style preference but bedroom could definitely be updated.
Excellent location and value for money. Very good buffet breakfast. Use of pool and hot tub.
The interior decor and grounds are hard to beat for the money. Staff are friendly and helpful. There's easy Access to the golf course and chip & putt course. Breakfast was great. Good parking too. The atmosphere in the place is great. Some rooms have lovely views.
Some areas of the building are showing wear and tear, especially in upper reception. No aircon in rooms, although fans are provided where needed. The temperature in the corridors around the swimming pool are uncomfortable, even in winter, although there are not many.
Really enjoyed our stay, amazing location, staff were top notch.
Only gripe i have is the excess heat in the breakfast room, so very little to moan about.
Everything
Banging doors
Staff hotel and food lovely
Bathroom needs updating , shower pretty poor and don’t like shower curtains !
Stunning and beautiful location amazing interior
The car charging was very slow
Beautiful building in a lovely setting, with various walks, restaurants & amenities closed by. Gorgeous grounds and excellent facilities - games room, snooker, swimming pool & jacuzzi with gym etc. Very friendly helpful staff.
Had to request vegan sausages for breakfast which arrived after I'd finished but a very minor thing.
I have stayed here many times and the hotel is very comfortable. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. Evening meals are good and breakfasts are okay.
It was extremely hot and unfortunately my room was on the top floor and never cooled down. Almost impossibly hot for sleeping (one of the staff said she stayed in a room on the top floor if she had to stay over and agreed it was like a sauna)I was given a fan, without which I wouldn't have slept, so not very restful! When I asked at reception about a change of room I was offered one for an extra £30 / night which I thought was a bit much considering I'm a regular customer and have been staying there for many years.
