Great location on the canal
Lovely staff - Ellie very welcoming. Gave us complimentary cappuccino and pot of tea in the morning which was a nice touch
No food served in pub - unable to get an evening meal or breakfast.
Room was hot due to weather - would benefit from air conditioning
Excellent location, good WiFi
Host seemed irritated when I first arrived and it was loud into the evening (no sound proofing between pub and rooms), bathroom had a weird smell
The new manager was so welcoming and friendly
Breakfast was really good
We went visiting relatives in the area and this place was ideally located for us, we will definitely stay there again.
Really accommodating staff. Got us continental breakfast for an early check out.
Ideally placed on the canal and National Cycling Network
Great room and location
Surly manager, breakfast inedible
Clean condition comfortable room good breakfast
The outside stairs to the rooms
This is a wonderful place to stay - right on the canal. Great pub underneath and such welcoming staff. Lovely outside seating areas too. Our room had a lovely view, plenty of space and really comfortable. No problem about storing our bikes overnight. And best of all, when my husband left his specs behind, the landlady posted them back to us. We would go back!
Location was excellent. Room was clean, tidy and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Nothing.
Location was very good. We didn’t get breakfast
The first time we stayed at this establishment, we were provided with breakfast. It would have been nice to get the same instead of having to go searching for somewhere else to eat before heading home.
Friendly welcome from the guy on the bar
Clean room with view over the canal
Quiet
Even by the standards of electric showers this was unreliable and largely useless
Very good breakfast, handy having the bar below you.
Low pressure on the shower, would prefer a pot of tea, rather than a mug made for you..
Great location
The property was located near to where I was working that week.
The property/pub was grubby and tired. The tiled floor to the entrance of the pub was dirty. The metal stairs to the entrance of the property was located to the rear of the building and were full of moss and weeds. The entrance to the bedrooms was moldy smelling and tired. There was a shared kitchen with a hairdryer and and iron. The bedroom was so damp and mold smelling i had to open the windows wide. Upon further exploration the shower trap in the shower was full of hair and slime and the water wouldnt drain. I experienced the landlady as ungracious.
Location next to the canal
Its a dated pub which could be outstanding
The location was excellent. The room was quite small but clean and absolutely fine for a one night stopover.
We hadn't anticipated that the pub would not be serving meals but we were directed to a pub 10 mins walk away. There didn't appear to be a choice of timing for breakfast. It would have been nice to have been able to choose from a list of breakfast ingredients rather than going for the full English without knowing what that included. This would save money and reduce waste.
Clean, comfortable room, excellent shower, peaceful locatìn next to the canal, plenty of parking space.
Had been told, when I phoned a few weeks ago, that they did bed and breakfast, but no evening meals. Disappointing therefore to find no breakfast either, and the pub would be shut by 9.00pm. We understand the difficult business environment for the hospitality sector, but customer expectations need to be managed. And customers will go elsewhere if they are disappointed, and basic requirements aren't met.
Location and obliging staff.
