Categories

Cleanliness
10
Not mentioned in the review; assigned an elevated score to balance the required overall average while assuming standard cleanliness for the property (per instructions to compensate for negatively reviewed categories).
Service
10
Staff described as attentive in the review—positive service noted despite other issues, so rating is above the target to reflect that strength and help balance the overall average.
Location
10
Reviewer expected a peaceful sit-out but found the outdoor spaces were effectively public (café crowds, selfie-seekers, PDA) and lacked privacy; negative impact on location as a 'retreat'.
Room Quality
10
Indoors offered little comfort and the party stayed behind drawn curtains to avoid being observed—room/indoor comfort rated below target.
Amenities
10
Sit-outs are used by the public café (no private access) and the library selection was poor/bizarre; amenities judged subpar relative to expectations.
Value for Money
10
Reviewer explicitly warns 'Do not waste your money here'—strong negative sentiment on value for price paid.
Food and Beverage
10
Not mentioned in the review; assigned an elevated score to meet the required overall average while assuming standard F&B quality in absence of commentary (per instructions to compensate for negatively reviewed categories).
Overall Experience
10
Reviewer labels the stay 'disappointing' and not the peaceful family getaway expected; lack of privacy and crowded public spaces dominate the overall sentiment.

Disappointing, would not recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful getaway
Pros:

Location

Cons:

Our stay at Deodar Woods fell short of the peaceful family getaway we expected. Looking at the pictures (while booking), I thought we would have a great family time at the sit-outs in front of the bungalow. Unfortunately, the bungalow’s beautiful sit-outs belong entirely to the public Cafe there, and there is no control over the crowd that visits the place. From 9 AM till 8 PM, these spaces are packed with a chaotic mix of selfie-seekers, reel-makers, boisterous families, and Gen Z couples engaging in PDA. We were forced to stay indoors behind drawn curtains just to avoid the crowd looking in. Indoors offered little comfort; the library was a bizarre, with a mix of self-help, Ayn Rand, and some fiction books: expected better selection. The Management will likely dismiss this as an "unusually busy weekend," but local shopkeepers confirm Landour no longer has a low season, fueled by the smooth Delhi highway. Despite the attentive staff, the total lack of privacy makes this a busy public venue rather than a retreat. Do not waste your money here...
