Disappointing
Pros:

It’s location and a beautiful building

Cons:

The beds were very hard. We had to wait an hour for our breakfast, we ordered eggs Benedict and when it came they’d run out of spinach and mushrooms, so eggs on toast basically.

Pros:

The staff were very helpful. A member of staff carried our suitcase to our room and they also moved us to a lower floor as well
Jack offered to give me a lift to my car as I parked away from the hotel as I thought parking in the square was only 2 hours.
The dinner was good value for money. My wife enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding

Cons:

I tried getting in touch with the hotel regarding the parking, and an AI answered. It tried putting me through to a member of staff but nobody picked up.

Fabulous place would stay again
Pros:

Fabulous hotel & pub very well appointed & with great real ale. We stayed in a very nice large room outside in the courtyard. The place stands well on cobblestone market place with loads of parking.
The room had dressing area & large well appointed bathroom on the ground floor & large bed on a mezzanine above, very comfortable.

Cons:

This was however spoiled by the lack of maintenance. The latch on the outside door didn’t work, the bathroom door lock didn’t work & the fabulous bath was unusable as the plug/waste didn’t seal so water wouldn’t stay in the bath.

great stay in a great market town
Pros:

The beer and location are what attracts me to returning to the The Kings Head my room was great ,and the fish and chip shop on the square is fanatastic.

Cons:

My mates room wasnt so good in the court yard ,it was a little bit claustrophobic and the heat was only bareable with the window and door open.

Pros:

Location was great ! We ate in the restaurant and the food was Very good 👍.The bed was so comfy !

Cons:

We were in a room for the less mobile - my partner, in his 80's , felt the bathroom wasn't providing enough to prevent him slipping .

Great place to stay would definitely recommend
Pros:

Great family room with lots of space and high ceilings which was an L shape with large bed and sofa bed. The room was behind the pub/hotel separate to it. Couple of seats and a table outside the room which was a real sun trap on morning. Sat outside on a morning with a coffee. Quite central location. Wasn’t sure about parking but staff said it was ok to park in Market Place. Staff helpful and friendly. Food was good both evening meal and breakfast.

Cons:

All good. We mentioned an issue to staff as we checked out and they said they’d look into it.

Accommodation and location perfect.
Pros:

The location, parking and our room were perfect. The room was well designed with a large bathroom and a storage cupboard big enough to store bags away. There was an iron and ironing board and hairdryer. Also hangers for shirts etc. Lighting was good and there plenty of sockets. Tea and coffee well stocked.

Cons:

We ate in the pub and while the food was the usual pub food and OK sadly the service seemed disorganised. There was no 1 person designated to serve us so there was miscommunication. Once we
got our food order taken, by person number 1, it took ages to come out, brought by person number 2. Our drinks order was incorrect brought by person number 3, and we had to ask for the dessert menu from person number 4. Such a shame as everyone was so friendly and polite.

Fabulous find!
Pros:

Beautiful pub with rooms either above the pub or in the adjacent courtyard. Room was lovely, quiet (not affected by any noise from the Pub) and extremely comfortable.
The food was simply wonderful - we had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast the following morning. A vast array of choices and the staff were very helpful, polite and warm. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Cons:

Nothing!

Black mould in the room
Pros:

I liked masham itself, very nice little village

Cons:

Unfortunately, our stay got off to a very disappointing start. Upon checking into our room, we immediately discovered extensive black mould. As someone who suffers from severe asthma, this was particularly concerning due to the obvious health implications.

We reported the issue to reception, and whilst the member of staff was polite and moved us to another room, what concerned us most was being told that the hotel was already aware of the mould and that it had previously been reported to management but had not yet been resolved. I find it unacceptable that a room with a known mould problem was still being allocated to guests, particularly when it could pose a serious risk to anyone with respiratory conditions.

Although we appreciated being moved, the experience left us feeling extremely uncomfortable. My partner and I both suffer from social anxiety, and it took a great deal for us to approach reception and ask to be moved. We are not the type of people who usually complain, so the situation caused us unnecessary stress and detracted from what should have been a relaxing break.

The replacement room was cleaner, but it still fell below the standard we expected from a Greene King hotel.

Unfortunately, our disappointment continued the following morning. We had not pre-booked breakfast but decided to pay for it separately. This proved to be a mistake. The breakfast was of an extremely poor standard, with grey, unappetising scrambled eggs and bacon and sausages that were so overcooked they were rock hard. We barely touched our meals and felt that the breakfast was not of an acceptable quality, particularly considering it was an additional cost.

Overall, our stay fell well below the standards we expected. Whilst I appreciate the staff member who assisted us by moving rooms, I do not believe guests should ever be placed in accommodation that the hotel already knows has a significant mould problem.

Most enjoyable break in a delightful area
Pros:

Good variety on offer at breakfast. Service slow. Several tables had their breakfasts incorrect on one morning. Confusion in the kitchen apparently
Friendly and generally helpful staff.

Cons:

Very short staffed during our stay which was a Sunday to Wednesday.
On the first night we ordered a bottle of wine which never did arrive but was added to the bill! We had it removed.

Another nice stay in Masham, shame about the room size.
Pros:

Stayed here many times and always ask for a room overlooking the market square. Nice enough room (see below) and a decent bathroom. Dining area well laid out and not overcrowded and a good breakfast was served in the same room. Food and drink to a good standard. Plenty of free parking outside or in the market square via an honesty box.

Cons:

Unfortunately on our arrival they were unable to locate the keys for our room so we accepted another along the corridor. Now I cannot say that we didn't have a double room. But of the 4 rooms on this floor overlooking the market square, this was by far the smallest. pity! At least I know which to ask for on our next stay.
Apparently the King's Head has had a bit of a makeover but I can't say I noticed much different.
