Excellent hotel!
Pros:

Breakfast was great. Very clean, had everything needed in a hotel room. fire pit outside, pool and pool area was very clean, spacious as far as seating in every place in the hotel, vibrant colors, and honestly, we went because we loved the plank floors. The old style carpet in most hotel rooms is not only outdated but dirty, disgusting, and ugly to say the least. Tru felt like a place closer to being home. Did not feel disgusting when walking through the room, bathroom, or bed. Very pleased.

I really enjoyed my visit!
Pros:

I liked that it was modern & bright in decor! I also loved the lobby layout and all the lobby windows that let in so much light! The soft seating throughout the lobby was nice, as well. The king bed was super comfortable, as well as the pillows.

Cons:

I was on the 3rd floor and there was obviously someone in the room above. They kept dropping things on the floor in the eary morning and since the floors are not carpeted, it was disturbing if you are trying to get a little more sleep. Only a minor annoyance.

It was short, one night, and pleasant.
Pros:

I liked everything I rated. The laminate flooring in the room felt cleaner and brighter than carpeting. Though I'm almost 80, I enjoyed the millennial and modern feel, the cute sayings on the napkins and door -- "You've made it. Come on in." Exactly how we felt. And it actually did feel welcoming. I didn't use the fitness room or pool, but they looked fine and I might have done so if a longer stay. The breakfast was underwhelming, but offered a lot of variety, above average for think kind of hotel. (You may have to travel out of country to do better.)

Cons:

It was a little hard to find, but once Maps told us about Jet Pizza we were fine. I don't know why it didn't tell us sooner. The bright lights from the parking lot lit up the room during the night, also nightlights we didn't find in time to turn off, so it didn't get very dark. There is probably not much that can be done about that.

We will probably stay there again but will definitely insist on a larger room
Pros:

Great location and staff with the exception of us being in the smallest king room I’ve ever seen! We had two dogs with us and my girlfriend did work from the room one day. It was not comfortable with the 4 of us in such a small room

Cons:

See above. The room was the smallest king I’ve ever seen

If we ever have to stay overnight in Grand Rapids, this will definitely be the place we stay at again.
Pros:

We were attending a concert at Van Andel Arena, and this location was great! We were outside the busy city limits, but close enough to get to the venue within minutes. The property was clean and comfortable.

Cons:

I cannot think of anything that I did not like.

Cons:

Not set up for our demographic. Bathroom sink fixture, hidden stop lever, had to call front desk to drain water.
No coffee maker in room. Had to get dressed to get cup of coffee and wait for baseball teams and families going away for the day
Annoying blinking light on smoke alarm in dark room.
Small room size and wheeled furniture. Felt like I was staying in IKEA showroom.
Just not my style for travel.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn across the street from you and thought I would give you a try. When I come back Comfort Inn will get my booking even if I have to pay more for the room.

Not worth it. Crappy Hipster Hotel.
Pros:

The location was ok. The staff were very nice, the free filtered water dispenser was awesome.

Cons:

Way too small, no microwave. Room way way too small. The soaps and lotions stunk so bad. Construction was sub par. Shower door didn't close. The pool air burns your eyes and its hard to breathe. It was super noisy during the day. I had to sleep during the day and it constantly sounded like a construction site with buffalo running around in it.

Great place, wonderful staff, decent breakfast
Pros:

I have become a fan of the Tru hotels. We had to book two back to back reservations because Booking.com could not extend our stay. But the staff handled it perfectly so we did not need to move rooms. When i stopped by the desk to start the second reservation a staff member Shay were already taking care of it! Fantastic service. Just blocks from the White Pine trail.

Cons:

Can’t adjust the direction of the AC blower. It points right at the desk chair
