Fabulous staff - very helpful and friendly
Beautiful location and the rooms were clean.
Shower pressure was very low
Fabulous location in the mountains. Peaceful. Comfortably furnished room. Loved the washing line that pulled out over the bath.
Quite expensive for what it is, but in line with other hotels in the area.
The history of the place is amazing. The whole place is set up for visitors and they do a great job!
The room was aged and I couldn't turn down the radiator.
Fantastic location, superb views
Friendly helpful staff
Good food and drinks
Free parking
Free WiFi
A pint by the fire after you've come off the mountain
Going home
Location, staff and food are all great.
It's a bit overpriced
Fantastic location. Warm comfortable room and great breakfast.
Great location, hardly saw anyone. Pints great.food excellent. Scrabble had all the pieces
Don't be silly it was great
Room 6 was excellent, although one side of the bed was a bit lumpy, the hotel was very quiet, good breakfast
nothing
Amazing location. Iconic historical building. Friendly staff. Good pub.
Appallingly uncomfortable mattress - worst I’ve seen for a long time. You could feel every spring. Even the YHA has more comfortable beds - no excuses at this end of the hotel market. It was the same in the 2 other rooms on our booking. I’ll come back for the pub but won’t stay here again.
Staff excellent. Food good. Clean bed. Close to start of climb.
You’re sitting on a gem of a place and yet it’s dirty and unloved. A good clean. New carpets. Some paint. And generally a big hug is all that’s required.
Staff were awesome - couldn't be more helpful and accommodating (including reassuring a hiker whose party were stranded on the mountain, and getting ready to organise rescue, which fortunately was not needed in the end). Beautiful property, comfortable rooms, excellent local real ales on tap, good food, great breakfast, perfectly situated for climbing Scafell Pike and other local hikes, and especially - lovely people, and hospitality at its best in every sense!
Absolutely nothing I could think of to improve the experience!
Unfortunately there was a power cut and a cooked breakfast was not provided. Still enjoyed the stay though.
No cooked breakfast but couldn't be helped.
