Iconic location and building. Desperately uncomfortable bed
Pros:

Amazing location. Iconic historical building. Friendly staff. Good pub.

Cons:

Appallingly uncomfortable mattress - worst I’ve seen for a long time. You could feel every spring. Even the YHA has more comfortable beds - no excuses at this end of the hotel market. It was the same in the 2 other rooms on our booking. I’ll come back for the pub but won’t stay here again.

Absolute gem, and lovely people, who couldn't be more accommodating, helpful and hospitable!
Pros:

Staff were awesome - couldn't be more helpful and accommodating (including reassuring a hiker whose party were stranded on the mountain, and getting ready to organise rescue, which fortunately was not needed in the end). Beautiful property, comfortable rooms, excellent local real ales on tap, good food, great breakfast, perfectly situated for climbing Scafell Pike and other local hikes, and especially - lovely people, and hospitality at its best in every sense!

Cons:

Absolutely nothing I could think of to improve the experience!

Stunning location, amazing staff and service, great value, would definitely book again
Pros:

Location, location, location and breakfast, Poppy, the hotel receptionist was amazing! Shop next door selling hiking essentials and more! River running next to the hotel, breathtaking scenery, very friendly and attentive staff, restaurant/pub on site selling very good food!

Cons:

Shower facilities would have been better than a bath, comfier bed and a thicker/bulkier duvet needed. Breakfast could have been more inclusive for solo travellers i.e. sit all the solo travellers on one round table for breakfast in the morning to encourage interaction with one another as we all have one thing in common! Better weather?!

Been a few times before and will return.
Pros:

Unfortunately there was a power cut and a cooked breakfast was not provided. Still enjoyed the stay though.

Cons:

No cooked breakfast but couldn't be helped.

Idyllic retreat, perfectly situated for Scafell, with kind and helpful staff and good food and drink
Pros:

Idyllic old inn, lovely staff, extremely accommodating and helpful, nice bar-restaurant area with a couple of delicious local ales on draught, ideally situated for anyone wanting to do Scafell Pike or other hikes in the area, thoroughly recommend! I was impressed at the concern and helpfulness of the staff in locating a party who were lost on the mountain after dark as well - truly there to serve others.

Cons:

Can't honestly identify anything!

Perfect location. Lovely staff. Bit grubby.
Pros:

Staff excellent. Food good. Clean bed. Close to start of climb.

Cons:

You’re sitting on a gem of a place and yet it’s dirty and unloved. A good clean. New carpets. Some paint. And generally a big hug is all that’s required.

A very nice stay in this iconic location.
Pros:

The Wasdale Head Inn is iconic - incredible location. It has oodles of rustic charm. The staff were outstanding - super friendly and accommodating. The food is basic but good - I really enjoyed the chile!

Cons:

I know it's winter - but it was freezing - everywhere! I had to put my thermals on in bed. It isn't really a complaint - perhaps I've grown soft in my old age. I had 2 nights in the Inn and camped the last night. Now that was cold!

Ok but I think £40 to much for what you get.
Pros:

The location is fantastic, some but not all of he staff are friendly

Cons:

Very basic for the cost. I appreciate that this is in a fab location but it’s very dated and whilst it’s adequate and is a step up from camping, I have stayed in tidier and more up to date for less.

Good location for walking/climbing in the area. Fit for purpose and good pub
Pros:

Great location for Wasdale and climbing Scafell. Good pub and decent food. Lots of parking. Interesting little Church nearby.
The Hotel attached to the Pub was decent, Staff were all welcoming and helpful.

Cons:

Bedroom clean, fit for purpose and good size.
However, we both did find the twin beds in our room uncomfortable, maybe just us, but due to poor sleep we’d ask for a different room if we return.
