Everything was very poor and should not be open to the public.
Paddy was a great host and the pub is full of character and charm. The beds were comfortable, the room and bathroom room had everything you could need. Its in a nice quiet area with not much to do but there is a great takeaway place next door (recommended by Paddy) that does a solid margarita pizza.
The cleanliness needs be improved if they are "professionally cleaned" (left over rubbish in the bedside drawers, wiped down bedside tables). For a 200 year old building some wear and tear is expected.
The man who checked us in was very polite, happy, and welcoming.
The positive customer service could not make up for the fact that the property itself is completely unacceptable and in a shocking state of disrepair.
We booked expecting a quaint, characterful lodge, but the reality was an absolute nightmare. When we arrived, the pub lodge looked as though it had been ransacked.The taxidermy pheasant for one should be removed and the excessive dusty nick nacks on the shelves in the bedroom are not necessary, to actually give space to put anything.
The room itself was incredibly scruffy and bore little resemblance to the photos online. When we looked inside the shared bathroom, there was black mold covering the shower walls - a genuine health hazard.
The man checking us in tried to excuse the conditions by pointing out that the building is 250 years old. An historic building is no excuse for a total lack of basic cleanliness and hygiene. Old should absolutely not mean dirty.
The conditions were so appalling that we felt entirely uncomfortable staying. We chose to hand the keys right back and leave immediately to find an alternative hotel.
Le camere si trovano in un pub tipico e tradizionale che non mi era ancora mai capitato di trovare. Tutto in legno con collezioni di insegne pubblicitarie e equipaggiamento da pesca e bancone e mobilio in legno scuro. Nel piano di sopra si fa una vera esperienza di casa irlandese : moquette, foto di famiglia, animali impagliati e mobilio d’epoca. Il proprietario è un simpatico signore , divertente e accogliente.

The lodge keeper was by and by the most welcoming sort of person. He treated us like family. If you want old world charm and a true Irish experience, overlook the new places and stay here!

Pub authentique
Loved it as soon as I walked in the door. Was greeted by Paddy and made to feel at home. Only stayed for 3 nights but felt like 3 weeks. He's a good man and I'm really pleased to have met him so fortuitously though a booking of a property I hadn't stayed in before. I was participating in the Limerick Marathon on the Sunday and the comfort and pleasantness of the trip and stay at Kingfisher really helped and relaxed me.
Nothing - TV didn't work properly but didn't need it.
