Had a lovely meal on the night of our arrival and then had the full English breakfast the following morning.
TV in the room wouldn't work, could have been my fault?
Excellent location and food. Good parking, Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere from staff and locals.
We have stayed at the New Inn a few times in the past 12 months and this was by far the best stay we have had. New landords/lady have made great efforts to improve the overall experience, cleanliness and quality of food.
Highly recommended as a place to stay close to all Thornton Le Dale has to offer.
The staff were alright. But could not support us in our booking.
The room booked was not available & no one from the new inn attempted to contact or tell us before we made our journey. They were no longer operating as a B&B above the pub. No management on site. The place was not doing food, unlike it's website suggested. It was a dingy pub like had a very fusty smell. They couldn't offer us any help to find alternative accommodation.
Very close to where I wanted too visit
Far as I was concerned the place really needs updating make over repaint in rooms Outside tidy up Better food options. Communication in house needed to be better People left un fed in morning due to communication No night staff.
Breakfast was terrible the sausage had a vinegar taste and the tea was undrinkable
No running hot tap in the bathroom, bathroom door doesn’t close
on the sunday morning before leaving we did not get any breakfast staff still in bed
Location
No tv remote and I need a receipt to claim back from my company they said they would email but I have tried them no response.
The bedroom was adequate. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.
There was no chef, visited in June 2025. Apparently the previous landlady walked out a week or so before my visit and the new people had not got a chef installed. So no evening meal and no breakfast. Check before you book! There were only six in the bar on Saturday night, it was deserted and no atmosphere.
Really well renovated to a high standard, in keeping with its history. Nice pine furniture and fixtures added to the comfort. The staff are friendly and helpful. Thank you 😊
Nothing! All good 👍
Very welcoming, lovely place, friendly team and comfortable sleep.
Room was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast very poor - choice limited, food overcooked, presentation appalling with milk bottle on the table, sugar in the bag and we had to boil the kettle to make our own instant coffee. We had to give a detailed list of the things we'd like for breakfast e.g. butter, jam etc the evening before.
There wasn't a manager and it operated with a skeleton staff who weren't always there to answer questions. When we arrived the hotel was locked with no-one about to find out what was happening. We had arranged to book in 2-3pm but a member of staff didn't arrive until 5pm. We contacted the hotel by the telephone number given on the booking form but it went to voicemail. We also contacted Booking.com by telephone and through an automated message were told to phone the hotel. There were other guests waiting to book in and we all felt very frustrated and anxious. We made the payment by card to the bar manager who assured us the receipt would be forwarded to my email address. It did not arrive and I am still waiting. I asked the bar manager for a written receipt which was done on a piece of paper, un-headed.
