Alles was prima!
Architecture and design are a big plus, but the decisive factors are always the staff and the amenities. I spend most of the year living in hotels in different countries, as my work involves constant travel and meetings — almost always 5-star hotels, and only rarely 4-star ones.
The things I liked most:
• excellent front desk staff
• a large on-site parking area
• outstanding breakfast staff and a breakfast that deserves 10 out of 10
• attention to detail and respect for the history of the place
• complimentary water and apples in the room
Now for the disappointing part:
• In the room, the water in the shower was only cool, barely warm.
• The bathroom floor was icy cold, and the ventilation system was constantly running, turning the room into a refrigerator.
• A separate and major issue was the restaurants. Despite having less than 40% occupancy, they refused to seat me for dinner, saying they were fully booked, while in reality only a couple of tables were occupied. The front desk staff had to persuade the restaurant in the main building to serve me — the funny thing is, I was alone. This was the first time this has ever happened to me in a hotel with two restaurants.
The receptionist spent about 10 minutes explaining and convincing them that I was just one guest, yet they kept insisting the restaurant was full. It was quite surprising to end up dining in a restaurant where, across three dining rooms on the entire floor, only two tables were occupied — including mine, for one person. It was 9:00 PM, and the restaurant never became busy for the rest of the evening.
At the same time, the food at dinner was far worse than the breakfast, which had been excellent.
The modern comfort and quietness. The restaurants and bar. Very good location very close to Maastricht.
Nothing comes to mind
I stayed at Van Oys for one night on a business trip and was extremely impressed. The hotel combines beautiful design with a calm, upscale atmosphere. The room was very comfortable, the spa was excellent, and the overall level of service truly stood out. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional, making the stay effortless from start to finish. Even for a short stay, everything was perfectly taken care of. Highly recommended.

Receptie: duurde te lang, te veel personeel, terwijl wij op dat moment de enige gasten waren om in te checken. Het welkom heten is een mooie geste, maar soms wil je gewoon naar je kamer.
Vragen: het steeds vragen van het personeel of we gingen ontbijten, dineren etc. Soms wil men gewoon rust.
Kleed: geconcludeerd hebben, dat we over het kleed struikelde, dit omdat de punt van het stugge kleed omhoog stond. We hebben dit uiteraard gemeld bij de receptie. Dit euvel was bekend, maar helaas werd hier niets mee gedaan, niet creatief (tijdelijk dubbelzijdig tapijt tape of een andere kamer regelen waar dit euvel niet van toepassing was), erg jammer.
Badkamer: het niet vanuit de badkamer het gordijn kunnen bedienen, dit geeft toch minder privacy.
Airco: nadat de kamer was opgeruimd, stond het raam open en de airco aan, zonde van de elektriciteit.
Raam: er was geen hor aanwezig, dus ‘s nachts met open raam slapen en zonder hor in een bosrijke omgeving is niet ideaal.
Afzuiging: als je echte stilte zou willen en dat is zeker mogelijk, dan kan het raam open en is het buiten stil (althans toen wij er waren), maar dan hoor je nog steeds de afzuiging en dat is toch een beetje jammer.
Geluid: je hoort je bovenburen duidelijk lopen, erg irritant en de deuren vallen ook met een duidelijk geluid in het slot.
Geur: de geur van de aanwezige handzeep en douchegel etc. niet fijn.
