7 nights of relaxation
Pros:

Our first time to Antigua and we wanted to relax and chill for a week. The bluewater resort was perfect in all ways. The rooms were well equipped and maintained, the housekeeping was attentive. The resort staff were friendly, attentive and professional, always taking time to chat if you wanted to. The food in all the restaurants was very good, we had all inclusion plan and was so nice to have table service rather than a buffet experience, except breakfast which was a god buffet and table service option. The beach was our go to for daytime and we never had a problem getting sun loungers and the bar staff would often serve refreshments. Overall a great week and would definitely stay again if I return to Antigua.

Pros but also Cons
Pros:

Our experience was mixed.
Pros
We were in a pair of standard rooms and we found them to be good. The housekeeping was very good and Sonya was lovely. We had a problem with our electrics and it was dealt with swiftly.
There are 3(ish) beaches in 2 bays and they were kept clean. Plenty of towels available.
Pearle in the Pelican bar was warm and friendly and remembered our usual drinks order.
The Cove restaurant was really good, as was the Palm BBQ and breakfast.
Private fishing with Alex and Kevin was great, really recommend as it is possible to fish from the rocky outcrop, so great for people who can’t sail. They were patient and knowledgeable.

Cons
The management did not deal with the ridiculous issue of sunbed reservation adequately. To see 6 beds in a row on the beach already reserved at 10pm the night before and the staff refused to touch them as they had personal belongings on (Christmas decorations!) was ludicrous. Consequently there were days when there appeared to be no available beds on the beaches.
Watersports team - on one day I gave them the benefit of the doubt regarding their surliness, unapproachability and lack of assistance but the second time they were the same. (With the exception of the lady with long braids and glasses who was helpful). They tried to make me sign the waiver without telling me about the sea and wind conditions, despite that being highlighted in bold. They chatted amongst themselves and ignored people waiting. They had zero enthusiasm for their work or the customers.
The Reef restaurant. Adequate for lunch but not for dinner. The portions were tiny and on one occasion two of our party were served raw chicken skewers.
Reservations. I managed to book restaurants for the first half of our break via our travel agent but for the second half I was told that on the day would be fine. It was not. We were not able to visit the Cove for the remainder of our break as it was fully booked which was very disappointing.

If you like the hotel experience with themed nights and entertainment you’d like it.
Pros:

The cove restaurant is good, staff friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Our room had a lot of vegetation behind it and so therefore a lot of mosquitos - so we couldn’t sit out on our balcony at night.

Lovely resort
Pros:

The resort was beautiful especially its location and its private beach was gorgeous. I enjoyed having the privacy of my own pool (shared between only a few other rooms instead of the whole resort). The room was smaller than The food was nice with good service and housekeeping did a good job. Would recommend.

Simply perfect
Pros:

We have just come home from 12 days in Paradise, there is no other way to describe this beautiful resort. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we had the most amazing relaxing stay in the most beautiful surroundings.
The staff are incredible and each one is more friendly then the next but I have to mention a few by name, Annia, Sparkel and Keva in the Palm were outstanding and knew exactly what we wanted every time we ate there. They greeted us by name and were super friendly and efficient and great fun too.
Tramain in Veronica’s bar was amazing too, so friendly and so helpful. Jefferson in reception was also very helpful and Sonia from housekeeping was so thorough and our room was kept spotless the whole time we were there.
The beach is perfect and the sea was great to swim in,warm and very easy to access. We used all three pools and there were plenty of sun beds and water stations at every pool and so many towels.
The gardens are magnificent, beautiful flowers in abundance and millions of white butterflies. It felt like we woke up in paradise every single day. We had a beachfront deluxe room which was beautiful and the view was stunning.
We ate at the Palm a few evenings and the food was very nice there as was the breakfast which is served in the Palm.
We ate at the Cove one evening but it was incredibly pricey and the portions were tiny but the food was very tasty.
We ate out most evenings and used one of the hotel’s recommended taxi drives, Tready, who was brilliant.
We had a really wonderful stay here and can’t wait to come back. Don’t hesitate to book this beautiful resort.

A real slice of paradise
Pros:

We stayed for a week here just before Christmas and had an amazing time. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and feel very secluded and peaceful. The staff are incredibly friendly and made our visit even more special. The food at all three restaurants was great - we enjoyed lunch at the Reef most but there were highlights at all of them. The Pelican bar was a lovely place to have a pre dinner drink or an after dinner drink alongside some good music. A real slice of paradise- thank you!

Paradise
Pros:

I stayed at Blue Waters Resort & Spa in October and had the most wonderful experience from start to finish.

As someone who is coeliac, dining away from home can often be stressful, but here it was quite the opposite. The head chef Olvanah and her kitchen/waiting staff went above and beyond at every single mealtime to ensure I was completely safe- this I cannot thank them enough for. Nothing was ever too much trouble, everything was clearly explained, and I felt genuinely looked after. It meant so much to me to be able to relax and enjoy the delicious food just like everyone else, and I’m happy to say I didn’t get sick once during my stay.

A huge shout-out must go to Nicole, the Guest Relations Manager, who is absolutely wonderful. She is so friendly, approachable and genuinely wants to ensure every guest has a fantastic stay. Her warmth and attention to detail really made a difference and added that extra special touch to the experience.

The accommodation was equally exceptional. I stayed in one of the Cove Penthouse Suites with two work colleagues, and it was just perfect. We each had our own bedroom within the apartment, which made it ideal not only for us but would also work beautifully for couples or families travelling together. The sunset views were absolutely stunning. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the roll-top baths were a real treat, and I loved being able to open the full-length shutters and simply relax in the bath while taking in the beautiful sea views.

The beach at Blue Waters is another real highlight, secluded, peaceful, with the softest white sand and crystal-clear water. It feels wonderfully calm and private, making it easy to completely switch off.

We also ventured out for a couple of day trips, including lunch at Sheer Rocks and Catherine’s Café, both of which offered incredible food in stunning settings and are well worth a visit. I would also thoroughly recommend the Rum Academy experience, be prepared to come home slightly tipsy and proudly graduating as a newly qualified rum specialist!

Exceptional service, outstanding food, beautiful accommodation and a truly special atmosphere, Blue Waters is a place I would return to without hesitation.

Marvellous on every level & exceptional at Veronica’s bar
Pros:

We haven’t even left yet & I have to say what an excellent resort this is.

Having visited the Caribbean many times, the reason we always come back is that smile you are greeted with during every interaction; and the smile that your server or bar attendant leaves you with.

Daniel on the bar & Gavi are two of the most professional, exceptional bar people I’ve ever had the pleasure of sitting with on a Caribbean island. The mixology, the attentiveness, the conversation… Second to NONE!

Let’s be honest - when you come from London or New York, you have to slow down to island time. But these guys are delivering exceptional service with a smile, charisma & a level of class that you’re not getting on the upper east side or in Chelsea respectively.

The entire staff are wonderful & made my 5 month old daughter smile every time they saw one another, Nicole on the desk & Jefferson also deserve a special shout out.

However, the bar offers an even deeper interaction & I will be returning to Blue Waters over Sandy Lane in Barbados etc because of Gavi & Daniel. You made the $11 bottles of Carib (plus service, plus tax, plus tips) worth every cent,

We own & operate several bars & clubs in London so respect the hard work you folk put in each day, with families & other duties on top of what we see at the hotel. Keep it up, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Pros:

Usually people would write down names of employees in their review to give them praise about how great they were. But for Blue Waters Resort, I would say that everyone ( literally everyone ) was amazing and friendly. I think that was the thing that really stood out to me during my stay. Everyone was always friendly and ready to go the extra mile to make your experience stellar. Everyone was quick to check-in on how your stay was going. We met the general manager when we first checked in and he was present throughout the stay to check on how we were doing. When we checked out, it felt like we were leaving home rather than a resort.

The grounds, beaches, lobby, room, pool, bar, loungers, chairs, walkways, restaurants were spotless and pristinely clean.

The food was excellent and I loved how the menus were rotated all the time to keep things interesting.

We did the fishing activity and it was great. It was laidback and relaxing. The staff as I mentioned before; awesome.

Evening entertainment by the bar was great and relaxing.

To our bartender, if you’re reading this. Lemon Drop Martini; A+

All in all, this resort is awesome and you should come here. Friendly and awesome vibes.

Absolute heaven!
Pros:

Now Antigua is definitely a paradise island however the icing on the cake has to be the Blue Waters Resort & Spa. Set in a beautiful little bay this place offers you everything you could ask for, peace, relaxation and beaches. There are of course pools, water sports and a gym. Its three restaurants offer a wide range of options that are absolutely top class - you can’t fault them. But the ultimate has to be its staff, from the management team to the ladies that clean the room there is always a smile, a greeting and a stance that nothing is too much trouble. Well done to them all. Would I go back? DEFINITELY!

A Laid-Back Slice of Paradise at Blue Waters
Pros:

Just came back from Blue Waters in Antigua and honestly… what a vibe. The whole resort feels super chilled and peaceful, like you’ve wandered into a little Caribbean hideaway where everything is taken care of. The beaches are calm, the gardens look straight out of a postcard, and there’s always a quiet spot to just switch off.

The staff deserve their own shoutout — genuinely friendly, always smiling, and somehow always appear right when you need something. The rooms are clean, comfy, and have that “wake up and breathe” ocean feel.

My favourite part? Breakfast at The Palm and sunset dinners at The Cove. Great food without trying too hard. The spa also surprised me — actually therapeutic, not just a token resort spa.

If you’re looking for a place to decompress, tan, sip, nap, swim, repeat… Blue Waters is exactly that place. I’d go back tomorrow.

Pricing Strategy a Negative
Pros:

Stayed here with family over the half term break. External areas are very nice and well maintained. Whilst the beaches are a little small there are 3no' of them on site so always plenty of room to spread out. Nice pool and decked area with good quality sunbeds. Staff ratio to guests is quite high and you get a very friendly Caribbean welcome.

Rooms are solid rather than spectacular but most have sea views which is nice. The non motorised watersports all included is great. Two areas let the hotel down for me. Whilst the pool restaurant was quite nice for lunch, I found both The Palm and Cove restaurants distinctly average in terms of food quality and way over-priced.

The hotel caters it mostly for all inclusive but not moving outside of the hotel is not for us, so we were on B&B. The pricing strategy for food and drink is a bit out of kilter with the rest of the island and overtime the hotel will suffer because of this. Everything is priced in US Dollars, whereas everywhere else we visited save for one place (The Hut) was priced in ECD which works out a bit cheaper. However it excludes not only a 10% service charge which is consistent across the island but also 17.5% tax which isn't.

A Carib beer costs 11USD but when you add the service charge and taxes on it comes out at 14USD. By way of comparison, the only other place we visited that charged in USD was The Hut at Little Jumby. A carib beer there costs 9 USD however that price already includes the 17.5% tax. You are therefore paying an extra 4 dollars for a simple beer against one of the other top venues on the island. The same applies to food in the restaurant. You will regularly pay between 42-50 USD for a main course and then have to have 27% added onto your price.

We ate at some lovely places including Casa Roots, Bar None and Le Bistro with the first run by a French Chef so you can expect quality. These places are significantly cheaper for much better quality than Blue Waters in terms of food and drink. Whilst the hotel has a number of good points, the pricing of food and drink if not reviewed will prevent many from returning in my view as you can get much better value elsewhere.
