Good value for money.
Warm and friendly welcome, beautifully clean quality accommodation via one of the rooms off the courtyard. Lovely pub and restaurant all located close to the town centre and river.
Parking not guaranteed, alternatives inconvenient and expensive.
Location is a selling point being near town centre and a 5min walk from rail station. Rooms have air con and are well kept. House keeping seems to be available at civilised times with no pressure to get out like some others. Sensible check out at 11am which suited us just fine.
Ground rooms facing main road were a bit noisy ( traffic, revellers etc) but you get used to it. It's accommodation in a town centre after all. Could probably be sorted with a triple glazed arragement. No black out curtain which is bit surprising. We ended up buying eye masks in town. Everything else fine and a very pleasant stay.
A buffet is always better in my opinion. It's good to choose your own quantity!

the fact that nobody was at the reception desk. This was unwelcoming and unhelpful. There should be someone there all the time to help visitors; having to seeking them out in the pub (where they're often busy anyway) is not good enough!

Room 21 was immaculately presented but uncomfortably hot with air conditioning not working. Coffee machine also not working. No phone in room to ring down to reception and non one on reception when leaving

From the moment I stepped into my room, I knew this stay was going to be something special. The room was immaculately clean and beautifully organised. I was welcomed with thoughtful treats and a personalised message, which immediately made me feel valued and at home.
One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the bed. It is quite possibly one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. I was delighted to find plenty of pillows, and everything felt exceptionally fresh and clean. As someone who is very sensitive to dust and prone to allergies, I notice these details immediately. The bedsheets, pillows, towels, and even the room itself smelled wonderfully fresh. The cleanliness was impeccable. In fact, I wore white socks around the room as my own little test, and they remained perfectly white. Even the edges of the walls and skirting boards were spotless, which speaks volumes about the care and attention given to housekeeping.
I also appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout the room. The décor was elegant without feeling overdone, and every detail seemed carefully considered. The toiletries were excellent. The soaps had a gentle, pleasant fragrance, the shampoo left my hair feeling soft rather than dry, and the hand soap and lotion were equally lovely to use. I was particularly pleased to have a rain shower.
Another lovely feature was the tea and coffee station. The selection of teas was impressive, and the coffee brands provided were of noticeably good quality. As someone who enjoys a good cup of coffee, I genuinely appreciated this detail.
Breakfast exceeded all expectations. During my stay, I enjoyed both the Full English Breakfast and the pancakes on different mornings, and both were absolutely delicious. The quality of the food was outstanding, and the coffee was excellent as well. As a devoted coffee drinker, I was especially grateful to start each day with such a good cup of coffee.

The rooms are beautiful and really thought out. The bed and pillows are the comfiest ones I’ve ever slept in, extremely clean and everything was easily accessible. The complimentary note and macaroons and chocolate in the room were a very thoughtful touch. The air con is silent which was a massive bonus in the heat. We had an issue with water temperature but the staff were more than helpful and accommodating, as it appeared to be a blip! Easy to find and the over night check in was such a blessing and easy experience. Would love to stay here again. I didn’t want to leave!
