This is the worst Holiday Inn Express of all. I stayed at 5 over 1 week in China. The Laundry Corner was not functioning because all machinery and equipment had been removed, I was told it was ‘broken’. There were no irons or ironing boards in rooms, and when I asked to use one I was told there wasn’t even 1 anywhere in the whole hotel, and the receptionist then commented in an insulting way that it’s ‘just a Holiday Inn EXPRESS’! The breakfast wasn’t nice either. Avoid this hotel if you can.
Arrived late on train from Beijing. Quick overnight stay and breakfast before early morning departure to continue our tour. Efficient check-in for group which was nice late at night. Really appreciated the comfortable bed, clean linen and soft pillows after our rock hard bed in Beijing. Breakfast was a good buffet selection. No complaints for a tour group stay.
on a tour using Expedia tours DONT EVER USE THEM !!! they are crappy - the room was cheap, read the other negative reviews , they are usually accurate - the room was small, no fridge, air con not working, i rang reception who brought me up a pedestal fan which was great, breakfast was fairly inedible. I was told i couldnt order room service even though they had an offer of a food deal on the room desk, my only option was to go to the restaurant in the Holiday In hotel next door, which i heard both positive and negative things about the food there. The only consolation to my food issue, there was a small food place around the corner to the left, walk out the front door, through the garden, go left,, cross the road at the crossing and go on the left hand side, you come to a boom gate, walk through to little food court area, about 20 food places and drinks and beer available, prices reasonable. I bought corn on the cob, a can of beer, 2 juices, six little pork dumplings and 2 pieces of crumbed chicken breast ( very spicy ) all for 50 yuan, ,that fed my daughter and i for dinner. All drinks i bought were 5 yuan each, chicken 12 yuan each, freshly cooked.
Stayed here as part of our ‘trip a deal’ tour, was a bit of a drive from the international airport in shanghai. Hotel room was new and decent size room.
Breakfast was included which was adequate.
Nothing around the hotel to need to stay there other than if you had an event nearby or business to tend to in the area or merely passing through the area. Would stay here again if needed to be out that way.
High score given because of the free laundry with free soap. This came in good timing. Dang, it takes a long time for washer/dryer in one to do a load of clothes. Also, high marks for vending machine of noodles. The hotel was ok like any other Holiday Inn and food ok. But, again, in the middle of no where. Literally no where, can’t even walk...
The Holiday Inn Express is the economy version of the neighbouring Holiday Inn. The hotel was very new and in an isolated area with no shops or restaurants nearby. You could head to the sister hotel for food and a bar. The express had a small room service menu which we did not try. The room was well appointed but compact. It was mostly clean except for the mould on the mat on the floor of the shower (see picture). The air conditioning did not seem to cool them room. We could hear people talking in the hallways so not as soundproof as other hotels. Breakfast was ordinary and the room crowded,
We stayed here one night as part of a 10 day tour package. The room was clean, beds and pillows were very comfortable. We could not figure out how to lower the heat and so the room was warmer than we liked.
Our room had 2 double beds and if you were on the bed closest to the bathroom, you can see someone sitting on the toilet because of the mirrored closet door. The bathroom door was glass and it doubled as the shower door. It should be frosted glass.
Shampoo and soaps provided as well as 2 bottles of drinking water. We arrived late and left early and so I don't know about the surrounding area.
Breakfast was included and had a good assortment of Chinese fare as well as a few Western options.
Spent a night in this hotel and I completely enjoyed it.
The room was modern, stylish and clean. The bed was comfortable with excellent linens and pillows. The toiletries were also of good quality. The room offered plenty of storage space and electric sockets for all your electronic devices.
The buffet breakfast was also good with hot foods but there was limited seating in the dining area.
The only problem was its location which was far from Suzhou's city center and the area has many construction projects nearby and no shops or public transportation.
Of our tour stops, this was one of the worst hotels. The room was small- like closet small. We had no control of the heat and it was unbearably hot in there. Our beds were so close to each other we could've literally held hands all night. Barely had room for our luggage. Would not stay here again.
交通不便外,其餘都非常好
We went to China with a tour group and this was the best hotel of the trip. Comfortable beds and the room temperature was not too hot like the other hotels. Beautiful updated room and pretty good breakfast buffet.
Hotel was set up for people who enjoy western style accommodations. I thoroughly enjoyed this setting because it was modern, clean and what I am accustomed to at home. It really helped that staff could respond in English to our needs. More breakfast items available for the western palette.
We were glad to be spending only one night at this hotel as the hallways and room reeked of cigarette smoke. The room was small but functional. The beds were fairly comfortable. The breakfast was adequate.
Stayed here as part of a Nexus Holidays tour. Once again no complaints about the hotel, it is a standard Holiday Inn Express that is connected to another Holiday Inn and something called (according to their fact sheet) the Suzhou Taihu Lake National Tourism Resort. It is very close to the the southern/eastern part of Taihu Lake but was a good 45 minutes by bus from the central part of Suzhou.
So anyone familiar with the new Holiday Inn Express model found throughout the world now will not be surprised when entering the room to see that the bathroom has only one door, which is frosted and acts as both the door to the shower and door to the bathroom. In addition the shower overlooks the bed area and is also frosted. Makes for interesting conversations should you be sharing room with a friend or someone who is shower/bathroom shy. I am used to it having stayed numerous times in these hotels.
Breakfast buffet the next morning was held in the meeting room, between the two hotels with the buffet in the hallway connecting and then seating area in the meeting room. Guests from both hotels were there and the selection and quantity were fine, no complaints.
Overall, nothing wrong with the hotel, standard Holiday Inn Express, very close to the lake if that is what you are coming for, but rather far from the center of the city. Was very affordable (I looked up price for room, even though part of tour) and for the money spent it was well worth it.
Hotel Clean, service very friendly. Very basic in terms of catering. No room service. And if you want dinner you have to go 2 minutes round the corner to the bigger Holiday Inn, which in all fairness does a good burger with friendly service.
Breakfast is mainly Chinese with western option being toast, cereal and self serve coffee. Location is about a 10 minute walk from Lake Tai Hu, although that certain part is a so called Park and there is an entrance fee (I think around 20 kuai)
Lots of buses to get to other local places and it's a 30 minute taxi ride to suzhou train station (about 90 rmb)
Hotel is new, but not much amenties around the hotel at this moment.
