Galu Beach Gem
Pros:

I had such a fantastic stay at this unique ecohotel on Galu Beach. The concept alone is impressive—rooms made from transformed transport containers—but what really stood out was how comfortable and well-designed everything was.

The room was much larger than I expected, with a big, cozy double bed and thoughtful touches like USB ports right within reach and a practical desk space. The bathroom was modern, with a really nice shower, and I appreciated details like the window blind and the powerful air conditioning—which, importantly, had no restrictions on usage. After a hot day, that made a huge difference.

Another great touch was the refillable water bottles provided daily, with the option to top them up at the bar whenever needed. It’s a small thing, but it shows attention to both guest comfort and sustainability.

Stepping outside the room, the pool was literally just one step away—super convenient and perfect for relaxing at any time of day. Breakfast was served outside at the bar, which added to the laid-back, beachy atmosphere.

The beach itself is just a 2-minute walk, accessed through the adjacent sister hotel, Lala Galu. While you can’t use their pool, you can enjoy their restaurant, which is a nice bonus.

The property felt very safe and well-maintained, with security in place and everything kept clean and tidy. But what truly made the stay special was the staff. They were absolutely wonderful—hardworking, polite, always smiling, and genuinely welcoming. Their positive energy really elevated the whole experience.

Everything exceeded my expectations—from the creative rooms to the location, the service, and the overall vibe. A lovely hotel, amazing staff, a beautiful beach… and Kenya itself was just incredible. I would happily return!

Good option for the price point and closer to main Diani restaurants than similar priced options
Pros:

Small but well equipped rooms with a desk and comfortable bed. Good a/c. Tasty food. Good value compared to most in the area. Good security. At this price point I think this is now my second favourite hotel on galu beach after ecolodge.

Cons:

Restaurant service is slow and you can’t use the beachfront seating. No atmosphere in bar/restaurant and my room walls were very dirty (bed and towels were clean, just the walls)

Cons:

Leider musste ich jedes Mal lange auf das Frühstück warten,
Die letzten 2 mal als ich dort war ,war der Service im boxo besser und ich durfte mich auch im lala galu aufhalten, dies war dieses Mal leider nicht so , so entschied ich mich das hotel nach 3 Tagen zu verlassen und habe dann ins diani reff hotel gewechselt

The place to be in Diani!
Pros:

Best affordable place in Diani. Very young and cool vibes here. You can enjoy a private beach and bar which makes the experience a million times better. You can move easily by uber to other places
