Prachtig historisch pand met veel potentieel
Pros:

Het gebouw is indrukwekkend en straalt nog steeds de grandeur van vroeger uit. Vooral de bar en de receptie maken een prachtige eerste indruk. Het onthaal was vriendelijk, persoonlijk en gastvrij. Wij kregen een ruime en aangenaam koele kamer, wat erg welkom was.

Cons:

Toch zijn er enkele aandachtspunten. Het meubilair in de bar is aan vernieuwing toe en ook de kamers kunnen een grondige renovatie gebruiken om volledig recht te doen aan de charme van het pand. Daarnaast vonden we dat de ontbijtruimte niet in verhouding staat tot de uitstraling van het hotel. Ook op het vlak van schoonmaak is er nog ruimte voor verbetering.

Met enkele gerichte investeringen en meer aandacht voor onderhoud en netheid kan dit hotel opnieuw uitgroeien tot een echte toplocatie.

Pleasant helpful staff. Comfortable room with good facilities. Small fridge would have been nice.
Pros:

I didn’t partake of breakfast as facilities in room sufficient. Breakfasts on previous visits have been good.
Receptionist very welcoming and accommodated a change of room to avoid so many steps and make carpark nearer.
Peaceful garden with a Grecian feel to it. Interesting old ruined buildings and greenhouse. I look forward to future developments….a small theatre for the production of plays or opera, a lido style swimming pool or a croquet lawn. The possibilities are endless!

Pros:

Beautiful old building excellent friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Only negative is that the hotel is very tired bathroom could do with an update!

Wasn’t anything we didn’t like apart from it could do with a bit of tlc

Altes Draculaschloss ähnliches beeindruckendes Hotel in guter Lage aber überaltertem Interieur

Von außen sehr interessant und stattlich, Parkplatz hinter dem Garten, gut gelegen am Rande der Innenstadt, Strand fussläufig gut erreichbar, geräumig, Personal teilweise sehr freundlich, Zimm war groß, Bad ok (aber sauber)

Cons:

Innen sehr in die Jahre gekommen, renovierungsbedürftig, da Zimmer unter dem Dach wurde es dort drin sehr heiß, Rezeption (abends)sehr kurz angebunden mit Tendenz zur Unfreundlichkeit (für ein Hotel ziemlich sicher), Frühstück extrem dürftig und rudimentär, Flure und Treppen teilweise sehr eng und steil, war für uns kein Problem aber auch nicht bequem, sollte man aber wissen, wenn man sich mit Koffern in engen Treppen schwer tut. Außenanlage vor dem Haus ungepflegt und auch nicht zugänglich, auf unserer Rundreise durch Südengland die unattraktivsten und relativ teuerste Unterkunft, für eine Nacht oder zur Not aber ok

We had a really nice welcome on arrival. The staff on reception very accommodating.
Pros:

The breakfast was very nice with plenty available - the waitress kept the food items topped up and readily explained use of the coffee machine etc.
Very pleasant garden restaurant which was immaculately clean. I fully enjoyed.

Cons:

The only thing that could have improved our stay, due to the extreme weather, would have been air conditioning in our rooms.
