Green Town Hotel — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Pros:

Helen and her family made this stay. We booked two nights and extended to three simply because we enjoyed it so much. They were always available whenever we needed anything, and on arrival Helen hands you a paper map packed with genuinely useful local information — where to eat, where to shop, and what to see and do.

The location is perfect — a short walk to the night market and Old Town, with plenty of local food spots nearby and an ATM just two minutes away. We barely needed transport during our stay. The aircon is lovely and cold, the wifi is good and stable, and they also offer laundry, tours, and bike and scooter rentals. Visa cards are accepted.

What really stood out was one stormy evening when the whole town lost power due to a severe thunderstorm. It was an area-wide outage, entirely outside Helen's control, but she and her family immediately brought us a battery-powered fan and light, plus plenty of cold water, and checked that we were comfortable. That kind of care isn't something you can put in a listing.

At the end of our stay Helen stored our luggage and arranged a taxi to Da Nang at a much better price than Grab or other apps.

Perfect for a short stay in Hoi An — easy location, lots to do and eat within walking distance, and hosts who genuinely look after their guests. We look forward to welcoming Helen and her family to our home in Thailand one day.

Pros:

Das Personal war so unfassbar freundlich und hat uns viele Tipps gegeben, es war mit Abstand die beste Unterkunft in Vietnam (wir waren in vielen, da wir über 1 Monat unterwegs waren).
Die Lage ist gut und das Zimmer war geräumig und die Betten sehr bequem!
Wir konnten nach dem Checkout unsere Sachen bis abends abstellen und durften sogar noch die Dusche und Toilette benutzen.

An uncomfortable stay

The location is okay, about a 15 min walk to Old Town

Cons:

Before arriving, the host kept texting me trying to pressure me into upgrading my room. On arrival, she got snappy that I had not answered 9 of her messages about the upgrade. I explained that upgrading wasn’t in my budget, and the more expensive room did not look worth the extra money. She then tried to get me to cancel my booking on booking.com so that she would not have to pay commission. The room itself was not clean. The walls were filthy where other people had killed bugs that were now rotting away. My first night I killed about 15 mosquitos and chased geckos out of the room. I also encountered types of bugs that I had never even seen before. The bed is wildly uncomfortable and there’s no hot water in the shower. The window is a decoration and is concreted up so no natural light. The room is not soundproofed whatsoever and from 5am to 1am you can hear people stamping around and shouting downstairs. The bathroom in the lobby seems to be for the family’s personal use and there were dirty underwear left on the back of the door handle. When leaving, she tried to insist that we booked our driver through her instead what we had already planned.

My favourite stay from my whole trip. Helen is the most helpful, lovely human and really goes above and beyond. She also speaks great English. I stayed here at the start and end of my trip and both times the rooms were clean, quiet and felt safe. They have the best aircon, a huge fan, 10/10 wifi, a mini fridge, comfy beds, hairdryer etc

It is set back a block from the main area which is ideal as you can use the street that runs behind the main area to quickly get close to where you need to go before walking into the busy crowds.

If you take a Grab car to Hoi An with your luggage, they cannot go into the ‘main area’ so this location - as well as being quiet - worked out the best as I had heavy bags.

There is a bicycle to rent for 40,000VND but everything is walking distance anyway, including HDbank which has no cash withdrawal fees for foreign cards.

Quaint, authentic stay in Hoi An

Wonderful staff, cute rooms, fabulous tea cafe across the street. Safe area. Easy walking to old town.

Outside the property across the street needs cleaned up. The map leads to about a quarter mile away.

I loved my stay at Green Town Hotel!
Pros:

It was a fancy hotel in a residential community. The owner spoke perfect English. I felt safe there, it was very clean and new, staff was outstanding, and it was situated not far from the action spots. I would stay there again if I return to DaNang. They are a 5 star operation. 🌟 Marge Gonzales USA/Maryland

I’ve stayed in many home stays in Vietnam, and staff has always been amazing and helpful. This one is no exception, absolutely amazing, friendly, and helpful local family.

Helen was very helpful in booking all tours I wanted, even when she needed surgery she still helped.

On my last night I burned my leg on the exhaust of a hot motorbike, and Helen’s mother gave me aloe vera to apply to my burnt leg. Words cannot describe how wonderful this family is. Highly recommend, and when I come back to hoi an I would definitely stay here again.
