Overall, this was a very disappointing stay and I have been trying to speak to somebody about this.
Pros:

Well it was convenient being right off the freeway with a bunch of food and some stores around.

Cons:

When we arrived, we were very confused because we had booked the hotel as the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Amarillo West, but the property had apparently changed to City Express by Marriott without us being notified. It took us time to figure out that we were even at the correct hotel.

Unfortunately, the condition of the room made the situation much worse. Our room was visibly filthy, and it was clear that it had not been properly cleaned before our arrival. The TV and Wi-Fi also were not working. When we brought this to the front desk, the only response we received was that the “TV is blocked,” with no further explanation or attempt to resolve the issue.

Then, when we went to bed, we saw a German cockroach crawling up the wall in our room. We have photographs documenting the condition of the room, the cockroach, and the other issues we experienced.

Unlikely to stay at another Microtel.
Pros:

Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean.

Cons:

The carpet in my room was filthy (stained). The walls were dirty. The orange juice was empty at breakfast. I have stayed at a Microtel before and this hotel was not up to the same standard.

Felt new very big and comfy

Cons:

Check-in lady debited us $75 - which is supposed to be being refunded, I’m sure it will, and took wife to a room and basically forced her to buy a jar of peach and pineapples for her medical bills

Staying here has always beena good experience, except this time with no hair dryer, which I needed!
Pros:

We’ve stayed here several times in the past couple years of traveling back and forth from AZ to the East. It’s clean, convenient and the breakfast is better than some places.

Cons:

It shows hair dryers in the room, and there have always been hair dryers. I don’t bring mine across country because all hotels have them. Unfortunately there wasn’t one in the room, and when I went down to get one, they said they don’t have them in the rooms any more because they’re being stolen. Sadly, I understand, but then keep some in the office or don’t advertise that you have them in the room.
