I stayed at Umaid Palace for **4 nights and 5 days**. Overall, the property is well maintained, the ambience is pleasant, and the staff are courteous and genuinely hospitable. The restaurant service team, in particular, was attentive, listened to feedback, and appeared willing to help. Unfortunately, the quality and consistency of the food significantly affected an otherwise enjoyable stay.
Some specific issues I experienced:
* The boiled eggs served at breakfast appeared black inside and seemed spoiled. I had to return them.
* The curd was extremely runny. Even after requesting a thicker portion, I was told it came from a large 10–12 litre container and only the top layer was thick, so nothing better could be served.
* The bananas and papaya served at breakfast were somewhat raw and not of good quality.
* On one morning, guests had to wait about **30 minutes** before breakfast service actually began.
* Most gravy dishes were excessively rich and buttery, making them difficult to enjoy.
* The parathas were consistently hard and overly salty.
What disappointed me most was not an isolated incident, but the repeated inconsistency in food quality over several days. The restaurant staff made sincere efforts to address concerns whenever they were raised, but the improvements were either minimal or not sustained.
With better attention to food quality, freshness, and execution, this property could provide an excellent overall experience. The hospitality and service deserve appreciation, but the food falls well below the standard one would expect from a property of this calibre.
Food and staff
Not too classy as expected
Everything was perfect and we would love to visit the property again.
Food was amazing and they have all the veggies organically grown in their own garden that was pretty cool.
This was one of the more luxury, higher priced accommodations of our trip of India and we did not regret booking it. All of the staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Our room was beautiful and large with a lovely big bathroom and shower. The dinner and breakfast were buffet style, great selection and very tasty. We loved the building and the grounds, very pretty and well maintained. Swimming in the nice pool and sitting on the terrace with view of the lake behind the hotel were a treat! Thanks for a very enjoyable stay, well done Umaid Palace Hotel!
N/A
- swimming pool was not clean at all (and that was the only facility)
- we opted fot upper floor accomodation but all royal suites were situated on the ground floor and we got the corner room.
- in night the majority of property was dark and you can't enjoy a walk
- there weren't proper locks and there was only one lock.
- the property is very small unlike as shown in the photographs at the website
- there was no complimentary breakfast or anything else for such high cost
The location is good and convenient to reach from Gurgaon. The food is good, but very expensive.
The facilities are not well maintained and the bathroom did not even have hot water. We stayed in room 49 which is the presidential suite but the room was smelling dank and there was urine smell coming from outside the windows as workers are working on the top floor. There is constant construction noise through the day. Also the top windows in the room even do not have blinds and at 6am the rooms are flooded with light
Very nice
Quiet place away from the bustle of the cities. But there's nothing much nearby and you're forced to eat at the VERY expensive restaurant.
The kids enjoyed playing basketball, badminton and pickleball.
The restaurant was crazy expensive - 400INR for steamed rice, and everyrhing was 500INR+ Our meal for our family of four was outrageous price for what it was in the location.
There was no heating working so they gave us (on our request) a tiny fan heater that did nothing to heat the rooms.
The hot water ran out very quickly so I had a cold shower.
Breakfast was alacarte but with no menu so we had no idea what we could order. Not even any decent coffee included in the breakfast.
Room size
Food was exuberantly priced.
The property offers a beautiful heritage views in every part. The food is also great.
The rooms are not well maintained, washrooms even worse. Room facilities do not qualify the tariff charged. Breakfast was poor quality.
Food and property
Nice palace and kitchen garden with organic food, well equipped bathroom and good interiors, the owner was very friendly with us
We would have appreciated better facilities and treatment for our driver
Nice property close to Delhi. The staff was very good and cooperative. Rooms were clean. Outdoor was lush green and looking awesome. Overall nice experience for a single night stay.
Breakfast was not good.
The place is not as good as shown in photos.
What said in the description was not there in palace.
The property is magnificent. One gets the feel of staying in a palace with the staff being courteous and respectful.
The property is sparkling clean, both inside and outside.
The room size was royal. The temple in the garden was divine. Lots of space to walk around and play...with kids/pets.
A must visit with your pet as they will have ample space to run around.
The food is also delicious.
Location is very close to Chand Baoli. It's just 5 minutes off once you exit the Delhi Mumbai expressway
Loved everything
Rooms were big and decent distance from stepwell
Occasional power outages
The property is cool with a clean pool and amazing hospitality ( we got chai and pakoras delivered after our swim and it was cloudy and things were poetic) amidst the chirping trees and drizzle. The staff is helpful and understanding, you can see they are trying their best to provide good service at most times.
The property needs maintenance. Our washroom was primarily dysfunctional. The door lock came off as soon as it was latched the first time. Flush didn’t work towards the end. Water kept dripping from the sink throughout. Water pressure was extremely low for showers. We chilled mostly by the pool and outdoors but still this was big turnoff.
Uniqueness and out of the city
Eveything from staff to hotel.. everythingwas spot on
