The room was big, clean and comfortable, the staff was very kind and helpfull, food was delicious and the view was an amazing. Everything was perfect and that was a pleasure be your guest. I do recommend this hotel.
The location in the middle of the mountains is superb. We had two very spacious, clean rooms, one with a large balcony and spectacular view, with eagles flying just before us. Ideal for nature lovers. This place is really to deconnect you. What to do? Walking, an organised mountain cycling tour. And they organised a tour to a small coffee farmer for us, where we could taste the Blue Mountain coffee. We also asked for lunch at the hotel, and that was no problem.
There is no spa, but they are constructing a pool at the upper house, which should be ready in three months, they said. We saw the works going on. The choice of drinks could be more elaborate (a wine for example). And the road to get there is a challenge.
Excellent location. Great for bird watching.
Not a lot of staff but staff was excellent. Seed
Having got there it was a good experience and great to be so high in the mountains.
You need to be a good driver with determination. The road from Kingston to starlight was almost impassible in places. Just got through with an ordinary car but you should really hire a 4x4 to get there. Down to the north coast was slightly easier but still bad. Average speed 10km per hr.
The views!
Staff super helpful.
Lovely quiet get away stay.
Not a lot!
The setting here is the star of the show. Book an upstairs room with a balcony and as the fog clears you can only be amazed at the fantastic views over the mountainous coffee terraces. The gardens here are lovely and the birds are fabulous. The friendly team of staff can’t do enough to make you feel welcome. Breakfast and dinner were really tasty.
Our bed was super comfortable and the shower was good. The WiFi signal was good on the balcony. Parking is in the hotel grounds. Make sure you follow the driving directions they send you and approach via Irish Town and Newcastle. The other route is treacherous without a serious jeep!
This is a simple decent place to stay. Don’t come here if you want fancy facilities, pure beautiful nature is what this place gives you.
The food was ok. When the property is fully repaired, Omar really should be front of house.
There is no spa, not even a rock pool or offer of a massage or suggestions of things to do in the area. If you do not have your own transport, your options are very limited. The property itself is inhabitable. The downstairs rooms, besides being damp and smelling of mould, are in a building site. There are exposed wires sticking out of the walls, the roof of the terrace has been “repaired” without replacing the supports and when it rained, the water poured through the join. At the corner, there is a drop with no railing. In the room we had on the ground floor, there were ripped sheets on one of the beds and there was no hot water. We asked to change to a room on the first floor but we’re told other guests would be arriving and that we should compromise! With that, we cut our stay short, whilst waiting for our escape, I went to look at the first floor rooms, in one of which the ceiling was sagging severely.
I appreciate the property experienced damage due to hurricane Beryl and people need to get back to work. However, with this extent of rebuilding it would be better to finish it and properly, before reopening to the public.
During our internment, I contacted Booking, clearly the responses from the “general manager/sales manager” were from remote workers who have never visited the property.
Location & front desk agent, Omar, was very helpful.
Being told to leave after we arrived because we were ‘negative’ after expressing our sadness and shock over the dirty, broken, rusty chairs, cleanliness and disrepair. Omar very professionally offered to change items and actually removed a stained pillow case that I didn’t notice himself, however the management decided we should leave instead, and said they would refund the full stay. It was New Years Eve, dark and foggy when we arrived and we didn’t feel safe travelling back down the mountain so managed to persuade the manager to ‘let’ us stay, but overall a challenging and a sad sad stay. We left at 7am the next day.
Great birding.
Lots of rain but not their fault.
I love the location. The views are phenomenonal. The chef Michael made us the most amazing meals. The flavors and the presentation was that of a high end restaurant but the prices were incredibly reasonable. This is our 2nd time staying here and it doesn't disappoint. You can schedule massages, hikes, coffee tours, or just sit and take in the views from the beautiful porch with lots of plants and hummingbirds.
I didn't dislike anything. The roads to the location can be challenging at times.
The atmosphere is calm, beautiful and serene. If you love and appreciate nature you'll love it. The facilities were clean and well kept and the staff were welcoming. The food was prepared based on our preferences and it was well done. My partner and I definitely enjoyed our stay, the drive was worth it.
The path leading to the river was almost covered in vegetation so unfortunately we didn't bother going.
Staff was great!!! The location is scenic and well kept landscaping!
Room could have been cleaner but it was passable
Chef and maid were the only 2 people there. Very nice and pleasant. This is not a Spa Resort though and should not be advertised as such. There is no water activities at the hotel. There is no games room, no table tennis.
A spa would have been nice.
There is no spa.
Greeted and treated so well by Donovan and Harvey. During our stay our every need was catered for. Views of the mountains are inspiring. We enjoyed our time here so much that we returned later for a few more nights. Harvey (chef) made an extra special effort to ensure memorable meals.
Starlight chalet was in the most beautiful situation with mountains coffee plantations and the most beautiful setting. The hotel was well laid out with the most amazing views
One of the main features of this hotel were the totally wonderful staff Harvey and Donovan
There was nothing at all not to like
