Managed by a private host
Very convenient location, with easy access to the city centre and the train station. The room and the house are very spacious, with two bathrooms available. Large, wide bed. The room was clean. Very quiet, apart from the sound of raindrops. Relatively affordable. Wi-Fi works well. All expected amenities.
The house was not heated at all, the room was extremely cold, and I had to sleep in my clothes. After spending the whole day outside and getting wet, it was essential to dry my clothes and shoes, but this was not possible as the radiators were cold. I did not use the shower because the room was too cold. The kitchen was dirty, with unwashed dishes, so I chose not to use it. There are CCTV cameras installed at the entrances to the kitchen and the shower room, which felt uncomfortable. When checking out, I was unable to lock the front door with the same key used to open it, and had to leave the door unlocked.
The proprietor was immensely kind and responsive.
My stay was blissfully quiet.
The bed was surprisingly comfortable.
The property is near good bus routes and grocery shopping.
One of the doors to the property (back) can be quite finicky.
Simple solution? Use the other one.
Location was close to the city and also towards the Cricket ground. Was in a residential area which meant that it was quiet. If travelling alone, some may prefer to stay somewhere busier. The room was basic but that is all that was needed for a quick stay. The shower/bathroom facilities were good and there was a kitchen though I didn't use it.
Waited longer than expected to receive check in details though simple when told how to check in. If others are staying there, you are also reliant on them to make sure the front door is locked.
The place was nice and quiet, clean and store where near. Can’t complain we had a great time there, price was worth the place. It was just nice and I would love to book again
It was very cold inside as the heat was off but it was a nice quiet place throughout
The property was very homely and the staff were super punctual and helpful when we needed to extend our stay. The room was comfortable and the facilities were handy.
The bed was bit springy but manageable
clean, great well furbished
no ironing board/iron, no recycle bin in the kitchen, light came around the curtains in morning - could do with better blocks
Location and accessibility
Cleanliness,
The toilets were very clean, functional flush, no clogged drains.
Well stocked kitchen including utensils, microwave, toaster and detergent
Washing machine with detergent
Quiet and not at all noisy flatmates
The address is incorrect as communicated by the Uber driver.
This appears to be a house and not a hotel.
It is not single gendered
The power sockets do not work
The room is stuffy causing night sweats hence hampering sleep
Mattress is a bit bad for the back
Tough padlock
There are no reilings and bars to hang clothes in the toilet
No instructions to operate the washing machine, nor the toilet shower switches etc.
I didn't sense any cleaning eventhough was charged a cleaning fee.
good communication with host. Access was as explained. Shower was good
we had booked a twin room for myself and my son. The room turned out to have a double bed and a sofa. Luckly son was happy to take the softa
Great location for city centre, quiet area and good value.
good bed, everything seemed to be clean and organized, the room was not as dark as I would have liked but my husband didn't see a problem so it will depend on your preference. The bus stop with access to the city centre is very close to the house which was very good.
The house itself makes some noises but nothing that will keep you awake, but it can be uncomfortable when you try not to make noise. I would change the pillows but that depends on personal preference. In the end everything was fine and pleasant
Bedroom was ok and shared bathroom adequate and clean. Host was reasonably responsive.
The shared Kitchen and Dining area was filthy. The only kitchen equipment was draining on sink and I could only see a chipped coffee cup and one glass. Neither looked clean. We shouldn't have had to dig through dishes on a dirty sink. Our check in was expected. I opened the cupboards expecting to find more kitchenware but instead found dirty cupboards full of out dated food. There only seemed to one other person there so can only assume old items in fridge and cupboard and been there for a while. Sink was disgusting and whole area very worn. The listing said recently renovated which is just not the case. The floor was sticky as you walked.
Property hard to find. Booking platform listed location as Beeston Hill but it is in Wortley. The host responded to some questions and requests for help but totally ignored others. The location was very close to the jail and outside areas were filthy, rubbish filled and items such as razor blades and broken glass were visible. Gardens were also unmaintained. Number not visible on house and street name also hidden so taxi driver also struggled.
The Lidl was close but that was it. We had to go a long distance to find some dinner. As per above we wouldn't have been able to do much in the shared kitchen which had very few supplies. The lighting in the bedroom was also very poor and found it hard to even use my computer at the desk. The listing mentions a laundry but I have no idea where that was. The mattress was horrible and you could feel the springs.
To be honest we spent the first three hours discussing whether we should find something else and move on. We did not feel safe in the area. We ended up staying as it was late and were only there for the one night. It needs to be noted that this is very basic accommodation and having been travelling for over 5 weeks by far the worst we have encountered.
It was clean
The bed was really really u comfortable you could feel the springs in the mattress the quilt was not warm and the heating didn’t work - had hardly any sleep
It was such a great but affordable place for a long stay.
The facilities were decent, and the owner was very kind and responsive.
Especially, I really appreciated the owner's flexibility in accommodating my requests.
There is a Lidl within walking distance, and the accessibility to the city centre is great with public transport.
The room was a little bit too cold and the chair was squeaky, but it was acceptable given the affordable rate.
It would be great if more instructions about facilities were provided so that we could better understand the house rules.
I love the location, the responsiveness to messages and the cost effectiveness. There was some sort of value for money in terms of pricing.
I love the availability of functional basic facilities like kitchen equipment and washing machine.
I didn't like the complicated check-in. The check-in instruction assumed that all guests would easily understand that the entrance is not gate where the number of the property is written. It was difficult to figure out the entrance.
I didn't like the fact that the host was not reachable on the phone. The only means of communication was through booking.com messages. That was a bad experience for me.
I didn't like the fact that I struggled with the room heating not regularly working. That was challenging for someone coming from Africa. I had to request on a number of occasions for the room to be heated.
I didn't like the bed. It wasn't comfortable. The host can do better.
