Very friendly employees. For the rate / need to invest in a modern look and new carpets.
Pros:

Great location.

Cons:

We stayed in room 202. Rooms definitely need updating. Little musty smelling in hall and room in that wing. Also need to invest in a robust high speed network. If TV relying on wi-fi string signal 202 was rough. Constantly left dropping out and reconnecting throughout our stay. Thursday it was so bad we gave up and could not use TV.

Location was excellent. Great hot tub for relaxing.
Pros:

Breakfast was excellent with a great hostess. Rooms were clean and very tidy

Cons:

Air conditioning unit was a bit noisy.....typical of hotel rooms. Not the fault of the hotel.

Warm and welcoming. Clean and homey.
Pros:

I'm giving this a perfect score based mostly on how incredible the staff is. They are so, so warm and welcoming. I travel a lot all over the country for work, and this sort of attention to detail and genuine care is rare. The rooms are nicely appointed, maybe a bit dated, but clean and so comfortable. The patios are lovely. The pool is TOP NOTCH. My kids had a blast. The coffee bar is really nice, with a selection of beverages and Door County's finest brews. I was kind of blown away by the quality vs. price. We were only there one night on our way somewhere else, but would absolutely go again for longer. Thank you.

Room humidity and in-room climate control a big problem in this older hotel
Pros:

The Good: Great location. Staff were very nice. Coffee bar and open areas were updated and comfortable. Did not use pool so cannot comment.

Cons:

I'm frankly surprised by the positive reviews. Hotel appears to be several decades old but was somewhat updated in what appears to be the early 2000's. Air conditioning unit was awful, either freezing or hot with no humidity reduction. The humidity in the room was astronomical. We called down and mentioned how uncomfortable it was and a maintenance person came up the next day and left a small countertop dehumidifier in the room. It unfortunately did not help much. This is a known issue as there's a placard on the door going to balcony that suggests keeping door closed for humidity reason.
Also, the beds were quite lumpy and probably need replacement. Tiny bathroom. Coffee is not available until 7:30am. which really bummed out my spouse who is an early riser.

Pros:

Hotel was older but clean and in a good location

Cons:

Room booking was deceptive. I booked assuming the room was a second floor room as I preferred, but was actually in a second building in a less desirable location on the first floor with no privacy on the outside patio

Overall, an ALMOST excellent place to stay in Door County
Pros:

Great location, has an indoor & outdoor pool/hot tub, large(ish) rooms for big families, and MOST of the people working there are great. They have a nice drink bar were you can make hot & cold drinks.

Cons:

One lady working the front desk is so out of type from the rest of the folks that run the front desk. I spilled a drink at the drink bar as my cup got stuck on one of the spouts and it pulled from my hand and spilled on the ground. I attempted to clean it up on my own, but it would used all the napkins - so I went to the front desk letting them know. The lady got immediately rude. Maybe it was her time to leave, not sure - it was a small cup of hot chocolate. She huffed and puffed over, look at the mess and was like "What are you guys doing??" - so I said firmly it was just an accident, and it happens just letting her know her tone was not appreciated. She did stop talking, but was huffing and puffing the whole time. One person can ruin the team, and she certainly doesn't fit with the rest of the great people at this place. Train her up, or train her out.
