The beach was definitely one of the highlights of the stay...beautiful, with long stretches of white sand and clear turquoise water. When I visited, finding a lounger could take a bit of time depending on how early you went out, but it never took too long to find a free one.
Breakfast was good overall, with a nice mix of options like fresh fruit, pastries, and hot dishes. There was also an omelette station, which was a nice touch. It wasn’t anything extraordinary, but there was enough variety that you’d be hard pushed not to find something you liked.
Dinner offered a decent variety as well. There were some staple options available across meals, and while some dishes were just okay, there were definitely moments where certain dishes really stood out and were genuinely very good.
The main issue for me was the condition of the room. It felt quite dated and not particularly clean, with noticeable stains on the curtains and bed linen. The bathroom light also wasn’t working, and overall the room felt quite dark and a bit dingy.
There were also a lot of mosquitoes, which was probably the biggest frustration during the stay. It was especially noticeable at the beginning, and while you do get a bit more used to it over time, it’s definitely something to be aware of. Keeping the fan on in the room seemed to help a bit.
In terms of service, it was a bit inconsistent. Some staff—particularly at the bar—were really friendly and welcoming, but interactions at reception could feel less warm at times and a bit abrupt depending on who you spoke to.
We love the location. The staff is fine. Some of the staff are very good - the lady in the restaurant (sorry I should know her name!) is really someone special. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The beach and the amenities (simple tiki hut shade structures) are perfect.
The music at the main pool. We think it didn't fit the clientele. Noticed that other thought the same. Maybe don't try to be the hippest, be more laid-back. Also, the sound system really lacked... it wouldn't take much to improve the audio quality at the pool bar. A good example is Sandra's right next door...high quality sound and reggae music. I'm not saying it has to be reggae music all the time - but most of us are looking to get away from the typical obnoxious noise of our everyday lives. Reggae, blues, roots based music does the trick.
The beach! Fantastic. The sea was soooo blue. The hotel itself is a bit dated and tired but it does the job for what we needed and as long as you are not expecting a 5 star experience in a 3 star hotel it works perfectly well. The bed we had was comfortable. We had a sea view balcony which was really lovely. There was entertainment at one of the bars 6/7 nights, which was a bit noisy sometimes but not a problem. We enjoyed the entertainment a couple of nights, especially sitting at the long bar with the friendliest of the bar staff. The other nights were not so much our cup of tea. We don't usually go for hotel entertainment but actually quite enjoyed it. The buffet food was ok, some good choices each day, we preferred it to the Italian restaurant (dinner) that you had to book to go to - as there was more choice. Breakfast was good, with fresh eggs cooked for you.
There was quite a bit of queueing - for the bar / drinks and for food sometimes. The bars seemed to need to have more staff. Some of the staff were smiley and seemed happy to be there but, unfortunately, quite a lot of the staff especially in the bars and restaurants seemed quite miserable. If you want to eat at the pizza restaurant you have to get up at 7:30 to get in the queue - it wasn't worth it in our opinion. We went once. Check in and check out were vey slow - again not enough staff at the critical times.
The location was ideal on Dickenson Bay Beach which was spectacular. As there were mainly adults present on Easter Weekend , it was very relaxing and quiet but came alive at night at the Long Bar where entertainment was enjoyable. The laid back nature of the Resort was a plus. The quality of food and drinks was fine but not great and you get what you pay for. The breakfast buffet was second to none. Eyshanna at the Reception was outstanding. Kudos to her for facilitating to our needs. The Italian restaurant was quite good.
Some dishes at the lunch and dinner buffet were not replenished if you didn’t reach early enough so get there very early!! There were very long lines at the Coconut Grill and its bar for food and drinks during their opening hours for lunch. It never shortened. The Coconut Grill is very popular for the beachgoers and the pool bathers. The service was very slow at the Grill and the bars. Additional staff is recommended. A hotel employee entered our room and removed the telephone without being asked to do so. A report was made and a telephone was installed. The A/C was leaking and it was resolved after a report was made. Our room was just above the Italian restaurant so it was quite noisy throughout the day . Guests placed their towels on the beach chairs very early in the morning to “reserve” the chairs, although many actually got there in the late morning. This is a terrible practice. The hotel in general is quite dated . The rooms and bathroom are quite small and an upgrade would not go amiss.
The property is clean beds are comfortable and its sitting on the most beautiful beach. The buffet restaurant always had something we could enjoy for our breakfast and dinner, the beach grill was busy but offered a good choice for lunch. The long bar is great, good to meet people and chat, and the staff are incredibly hard working and make the best cocktails
Some areas need a little TLC, but nothing worried us. The booking system for the pizza restaurant was not good, having to wait in a queue for a 7.30
List: there must be a better way of getting a table.
The meals were good always had an option for everyone who was there. The beach was good. The facilities were also good. The staff was exceptional always welcoming and helpful. Especially the bar staff. 10/10
I cannot say there was anything about Jolly Beach Antigua that I did not like.
Really friendly staff. All meals were varied and excellent quality. The resort was kept spotlessly clean and the gardens well cared for. The beach was beautiful with well spaced out umbrellas & beds. It was great to have 2 pool areas as the quiet pool suited us.
The beach was beautiful. No seaweed or rocks. The beds were very comfortable. The room got chilly at times and I couldn’t adjust the temperature. The food was very good with lots of options. Didn’t like how the bathroom floor got very wet after a shower. Very annoying.
Not able to turn the AC down and my bathroom floor got extremely wet after a shower. Otherwise, had a great stay for the price.
Loss of electricity for entire day and night
Excellent location, the best beach on the island!
On beach! Great swimming pools; food really good.
Rooms and access to rooms seen better days but this is reflected in price.
Sunbeds bit dodgy but 3 star hotel so expected.
Reception very disorganised, needs a rethink! I hate having to scan QR code!
Location great
People very friendly
Power outages
Nearness to the beach
The internet in the room was intermittent and the staff didn’t seem to care
